Show Senior Citizens Have Their Day at The Fair There are more than 600 senior citizens in Sevier County and were hoping that the majority of them will come to the Sevier County Fair as it opens on Aug. 9, said LaRae Ogden, department supervisor for the Senior Citizens portion of the' annual event. Dont stop living until you die, could easily be the theme for this portion of tiie fair as activities have been comfortably space to meet the entertainment, food and active participation of the Sevier County Fair. Louise Lintz, director of the State Division of Aging and Adult Services will be the guest speaker during the general assembly being held at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 Senior Citizen Day in Midway Park. Her topic is Magic , of America. Mrs. Ogden will present an oil painting to Mrs. Lintz made by Elaine Allred of JSalina who has contributed the art as a community contribution. . An added attraction this year will be the Hobby Horse Gymkana under the direction of Lynn Slade held at 9 Beginning at 8 a.m., a will be held in Midway Park under the direction of Homer Olsen, Monroe. The event is open to all senior citizens in Richfield, Monroe, Redmond and Salina. There will be Walk-A-Th- a.m. in Midway Park. will The gymkana provide exericse and entertainment for groups of between five and 10 persons which will include barrel races, and a flag race. Entries are encouraged from the varoius senior citizens centers. prizes awarded which include a painting, two wall clocks and bulletin board to go to the various centers. At 10:30 a.m. four women involved in barbershop quartet music will provide music geared to the senior citizens and will appear in Midway Park just prior to the appearance of pole-bendi- We hope that the senior citizens in Richfield, Monroe, Redmond and Salina will come to the fair and Mrs. Lintz. At noon several hundred box lunches have been prepared under the direction of the Sevier County Council for Aging and the four centers involving senior citizens. Donation for the luncheon is $1 minimum. From noon to 4 p.m. the Peterson Orchestra of Wayne County will be a part of the variety show entertainment also scheduled for the Midway Park. support the programs arranged for them this year. We have spent months preparing for this years fair, designing events that would please the senior adults within these communities, said Mrs. Ogden. The fair runs Aug. 9 to 13th. Fair books list the time, place and dates for all events and are obtained free through the fair board located in the Utah State University Extension office in the Sevier County Courthouse Building. The 4--H have been raised for the Sevier County Fair and will be auctioned off on Aug. 13 beginning at 8 a.m. at fairgrounds. The youngsters have learned to walk their pigs twice daily to strengthen them to make them eligible for possible blue ribbons.
