Orem Eighth Grade and NSMS won plaques for being the only two schools in their division to win two consecutive superior ratings from the judges. Orem won the overall trophy with just four points to spare behind NSMS. The middle school kids, however, won the Citizenship Trophy for the third time. This trophy means that from the moment they got off the bus until the festival was over, they displayed courtesy, maturity and discipline. We were also the only band to arrive and be in our seats before the festival started. Mrs. Poulson said she believes that if a band is well behaved and has a serious attitude before it plays, it will carry that attitude over to its performance. ' She said the parents of the kids should be commended and thanked for their sacrifice and help. We practiced every morning before school for two weeks and two afternoons for 2V2 hours before this festival, she said adding that this was necessary because the band does not have a regularly scheduled rehearsal time for the group as a whole.
