By USA ROSKELLEY Special to the Lakeside Review CLEARFIELD - It was a competition of brawn, brains, and beauty for the 14 Mr. Clearfield Pageant contestants in three days worth of relays and contests that ended with a traditional pageant. On Wednesday, Corey Larsen won the Mr. Clearfield title and crown along with tickets and pictures for the last major dance of the year for CHS, the cotillion. This is just so weird, Larsen said after hearing of his victory. Im so excited, but Im so surprised. Everyone did so great. First runner-u- p Matt Ormsby represented the Future Business Leaders of America chapter. Second runner-u- p was band representative Scott Erickson. Each was awarded tickets to the cotillion. The pageant was organized by the schools debate team as an effort to raise money to attend tournaments. Chairperson of the planning committee, Rachel Korth, said, We didnt expect for it to be this big of a turnout. It was so exciting for the team to be able to raise over $500 for next years team. Each contestant had to be sponsored by and represent a club in order to participate. Larsen's club, the Future Homemakers of America, received $100 for his win. Seeking the title that hadnt been awarded since their sophomore year, the senior guys began the trek on April Fools Day, with the male relay. In this, each contestant had to shave a balloon (without popping it), hammer a nail into a board, and tie a tie onto another participant.
