Sandberg, and attorney who practices in Ogden and is presently Riverdales J.P. The remainder of the council meeting was devoted to discussing a tentative budget. According to Uresk, the general fund amounts to $1,130,000 and each department presented its budget for consideration. An approximate 5 percent operating increase was noted in each department with some slight increases in some areas and some trimming in others. Mayor Larry Davis asked City Treasurer Jennette Wood if there was anything in her report to make it exciting. The council members chuckled when she said, Yes, a little bit of raise in postage, if you can get excited about that. Chief of Police Leroy Webb explained why he had not included $3,000 as Clintons share for a county drug strike force in his budget. Davis said Clinton and probably one other city were the only ones who had not paid their share of money to keep the strike force operating. He said he would be attending a Council of Governments meeting soon and knew that he would be asked about Clintons participation. Webb said he didnt think Clinton had a drug problem like other surrounding cities where the strike force is operating. We do have people in town who use it, he said, but we dont have a place where they can congregate to deal drugs. Webb said he feels the money would be better spent elsewhere. He said Clinton officers have done all of the leg work on drug related cases and then turned the information over to the strike force which gets credit for Clintons work. Rosemary Noble, acting city attorney, said the city plumbing code specifies virtually every type of pipe can be used for water conduit except polybutalene. However, she said she is confident Roy City can have it or not have it poly-butale- ne placed m the code, as the council pleases. The council chose not to change the plumbing ordinance to include the flexible pipe. The issue came up in April when Durlin Bailey of Hooper reported to the council that Roy is one of the few cities that doesnt specify that the poly pipe can be water hookups used for and requested that the city change its plumbing code to include it. in-ho- Another proponent of the product, Larry Christensen, said pipe is less likely than copper lines to burst due to ice poly-butela- ne buildup as the pipe tends to stretch. In any event, he said, the manufacturer, rather than the city, would be more likely to bear the responsibility for breakage. Christensen said he introduced the use of the pipe in Utah and that it is currently being used throughout the state. Roy gives fire truck to society An aged American La ROY France firetruck, retired by the Roy City Fire Department, will one day be on display at the Roy Heritage Museum3 through the courtesy of the City Council.
