AYTON-BILLS -- CCDEN- Lakeside BR1DGERLAHD HEATING Review SHEET METAL 344.1 fiftl 544-426- 1 Secondary water system proposed JEAN MATTHEWS Lakeside Review correspondent WEST POINT Representa- tives of the Davis and Weber Canal Company are proposing a secondary water system be developed m West Point. Floyd Baham, manager of Davis and Weber Canal Company, and Larry Perkins of Perkins Engineering asked the city to begin a feasibility study on the project. Perkins, who was hired by the canal company to do a feasibility study for providing water to cities in the form of a secondary water system, told the City Council there are advantages to having the system and cities may contract with his firm to do a study within the city. Baham said the area is moving from agricultural to residential, and the need for irrigating crops is diminishing. If the city is unable to use the water purchased for that purpose, it may lose the water unless it can keep the water in the area by putting in a secondary water system. At the present time, residents are using the treated culinary water to water lawns and gardens, whereas the secondary system would make water available at one third the cost of culinary water. Davis and Weber Canal Company proposes that reservoirs be built along the canal and the water piped to a point in the city where it could be distributed to each residence. Baham told the council Salt Lake City is willing to pay $400 million to pipe water from Bear River to Salt Lake City and would be ready to snatch up the water if West Point is not using it. Anticipating the water would cost $50 to $60 per acre foot, d the present cost about of West Point culinary water, residents could realize a savings after the system is installed, he said. The cost to the city for the study was set at $2,500. Councilman Merrill Roberts suggested the city consider the proposal further before giving the to conduct the study or possibly obtain bids from other engineering firms to do the study. The canal company representative said the company would like to furnish water to West Point but needs to have a commitment. one-thir- Stock-u- p 7'XlT SECTION INCLUDES: x wail Filler 12 Base Cabjnet 2: J I cabinet JK: Jr36 iase Sink Base cabinet I bs-3I bf-3- : twSlv lw-243- 1: wall Cabinet 2i"xir wail Cabinet 24"x3l wall cabinet 6: d-1- 2: 12 Base Cabinet Space Filler 3 wDrawers WSC-3931.- now and save at this special price.
