Show 30 Lakeside Review, Wednesday, March 5, 1986 Miniature bridge has hidden strength CLEARFIELD A bridge designed by Grant Famuliner held 1,400 pounds of pressure to win him first place in the Clearfield High annual Bridge Building Contest.! Grant, a senior at Clearfield, is the son of Leo and Linda Famuliner, of West Point. According to physics teacher Ron Yahne, interest in the contest ran high, with 50 bridges entered. The contest was sponsored by Utah State Universitys Engineering Department. Grant will attend an engineering banquet meeting at USU to compete with other winners Duckworth to lead junior high from various high schools. , Second place went to Brad Beddes, son of Wayne and Gloria Beddes of Clearfield. Brads bridge sustained 1,244 pounds of pressure. Third place went to Michelle Tovey, daughter of Kim and LaRene Tovey of Syra- cuse, whose bridge held 1,192 , pounds of pressure. The top three winners are 'eligible to submit a resume for ' a scholarship. V The materials for the bridges were provided in a kit by Utah State University.
