Show Lakeside Review, Wednesday, March 5, 1986 8A Area reservoirs swell after unusually wet February BRYON SAXTON Review stall Problems with LAYTON flooding could arise once again if Mother Nature lends a hand, some Weber Basin Water Conser-.vanc- y District Board members believe. The board met last week and discussed the possibilities of the area being struck once again with overflowing river banks. The wet month of February was cited as being the main culprit behind the flooding that took place several weeks ago. I think in that particular storm everyone got caught unaware, said Frank Dimick, operations and maintenance chief for the bu- - reaus Utah Projects Office. Two weeks ago, the Weber River swelled, battered down a dike and flooded homes in both South Weber and Uintah due to the heavy rainfall. You usually dont get a third of your water supply in the month of February, Dimick said. Heavy rains and runoff Fate of storage unit Review correspondent LAYTON Granada, Inc. representatives went home from a recent City Council meeting still not knowing the fate of their proposed storage unit site near Hill-gaTerrace in north Layton. The company wants to build a large storage complex on property that is currently used as an open storage area east of the mobile home park. Doug Thayne told the council Granada would leave the legally required area open for storage for the mobile home owners but that the remaining area could be developed into closed storage units, with the citys permission. He said the water drainage problems the city had been concerned about in the past could be handled in several ways. The issue was tabled to allow the city attorney to issue an opinion as to whether or not the city could stop one project because of questions regarding another project by the same company. Councilman Kent Smith said he had been told there were park fees totaling more than $11,000 due to the city which had not been paid and that phase two of a building project had proceeded without the payment of required fees or city approval. Thayne said he was not familiar with the project concerned and could not answer questions about the fees. Smith said the delay could also give Granada time to clear up any problems. 9 !IXjQ The Lady is paying a visit ! llfi 1986 marks the 100th anniversary of the dedication of our tribute to The American Dream...
