The pageant is the kick-of- f event to the annual Roy Days celebration which commemorates the coming of piped-i- n water to the city. ' The girls will begin their day on Aug. 10 at the Roy Elks Lodge where they will be judged by a panel of certified Miss Utah judges in a personal interview. She has trained for two years in vocal, two years in dance, had special training in cheerleading, drill team and road show choreography. She graduated from Roy High School with honors, was a member of the National Honor Society, senior class queen candidate, and was voted Friendliest Girl. She is a Weber State College graduate of cosmetology and was vice president of her cosmetology class. She plans to get a degree in communications, and further her career as a cosmetologist. Natalie Karren, 17, daughter of Thayne and Jewel Karren of Roy, will present a piano solo for the talent competition. She has studied piano and dance. A 1985 graduate of Roy High School, she was homecoming queen, student body historian, a member of the National Honor Society, winner of the Roy Lions art contest, junior class senator and was awarded leadership and academic scholarships to Weber State College. The new 1985-8- 6 Miss Roy will reign over Roy Days and will ride in the parade to be held on Aug. 17 at JO a.m. She also will be eligible to compete in th.e Miss Utah pageant to be held in June, 1986. The winner of that competition will go on to compete, in the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in Sept. - songwriter.
