At the end of the mile relay, the meet's last race, the Falcons completed a storybook finish. The Clearfield team placed secV ond, gathering eight team points, while poor handoffs slowed Ben Lomond to an eighth-plac- e finish, four Scots the points giving just and making their meet total 60. Clearfield totalled 61, and for the second straight year claimed the championship of the meet. Layton captured sixth place in the meet while Roy tied with Bonneville and Olympus for ninth and Davis tied for 12th with American Fork and Bingham. Friday in the girls version of the same meet, Weber took team honorsLast year in the boys meet the Falcons outdistanced the nearest competitor, Alta, by 14 points. This year Clearfield had to eke out a win aided by Ben Lomond mistakes. The Scots were also disqualified from the medley relay. But the win means the meet championship and Falcon coach John Flint will take it. Im surprised we won, to be honost with you, Flint said. Our high jumper, Todd Walker, had an excellent day and won with a personal best of That's what turned it around for us. 6-- 6. yr&t ,fi-- ' rv '' Todd Davis was fifth in the 1,600 meters, and anchored our medley and mile relay teams. As usual, our weight people came through for us, Flint said. The Falcons managed to capture the crown by taking first place in just one individual event Walker in the high jump. Clearfield continued strong showings in the discus and shot reand put, finishing -4 spectively. Two second places in both the medley and mile relays also helped Clearfield win. This is a little bit more exciting than winning last year because wi did it with a team that wasnt the caliber of the team we had in 1984, Flint said. The kids felt like they had a shot of winning.
