Grandparents helped students through their regular school day by observing and working with the students on math, reading and a special spring art project: 'The grandparents were also invited to stay for lunch. A book fair, will be held April 9 . through 1 from 4 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. With grandparents acting as individual tutors, each student worked on his tasks 100 percent of the time. The grandparents got a chance to see how their grandchildren were faring in school and the students were excited to have tors, he said. visi- Clearfield FFA Wins Competitor! ANITA KERSEY Review Correspondent CLEARFIELD During recent area competition among chapters of the Future Farmers of America. Clearfield High School's team came out on top for the second .consecutive year. The Clearfield team won all speaking awards and 10 out of 21 proficiency awards. They were the only team to compete in complete national FFA attire. Andrea Flinders won in extemporaneous speaking; the creed was won by Tina Andersen, Tauna Blair took top honors in prepared public speaking. Clearfield's parliamentary team also took first place: Dave Freestone, Chairman, and floor members Sue Thurgood, Grant Famuliher, Kurdell Cook, and Tauna Blair. In proficiency awards the winners were: Grant Famuliner, agri-culture mechanics; Sue Thurgood, agriculture sales; Stephanie Lan- - dus, floriculture; Patrese Eames, fruit andor vegetables; Tammy King, nursery production; Dave Edwards, placement in agriculture production; Shawn Byram, sheep production; Shawn Manning, feedgrain production; Patrese Eames, specialty crop production; and Dave Edwards, star state farmer for agriculture business. I r Latch-Ke- y Kids Learn Awareness FARMINGTON Something new in education is happening at Farmington Elementary: In an effort to meet the total needs of the children, the PTA is sponsoring a latch-ke- y home-oriente- d I imiiiiiiiiiiimiiKiiin MR k educa- tion program. , This voluntary program takes seven important aspects of being home alone in the afternoon and works with both child and parent in deepening the understanding level of each. Training is from a Boy Scouts of America booklet which talks about preparing to be home alone, fixing something to eat, home safety, knowing your neighborhood, problem solving and self defense, caring for young children, and feeling good about yourself. Children learn from the bookunder the supervision of an adult.
