We are really pleased with our year. Of course, you always want to win more games, but the kids played hard. They were well disciplined and ' iff Davis Fought Goliaths In State Basketball Tourney & represented their community :uzx well. They were a real asset to the area, Gardner said. Davis beat Layton in the opening round of the tournament, but then fell victim to then No. ranked Brighton and also Clearfield, which finished seventh in the tournament. Though the Darts were short across their front line, no one in the tournament regarded them rz Mm"?? 1 lightly. teXPt, v., Q : -- ' ; I Even defending champion Brighton coach Duke Reid respected what the Darts could do if they can get the lead late in a ktjrs v KM ?. ' ::ife ;? 1 ,4 game. $t1 I didnt know what he (Gardner) was going to do. I thought he might hold it a little more. The key to the game was we got ahead and we maintained the tempo of the game. The one potent weapon the Darts have against nearly every team they play is their ability to control the tempo of the game if i tv and even 9 and most of the time winning against them. What more can you ask of a player? Gardner asked. And Casey is such a tremendous streak shooter. When he gets in his rhythm hes really fun to watch. Dave Kinard is our other senior and is a very good defensive player. He was not a scorer for us. We didn't ask him to score. We asked him to play the role of the point guard and run the offense, of which he did a tremendous job, Gardner said. The Dart coach was not with his praise of his d two starting juniors, Mike Taylor and Brent Meier. The future is theirs. They gained some valuable experience this year and I expect good things from them next year, Gardner 6-- 1 1 a? fvlARCH We Are Moving To Layton 1720 N.
