NEW YORK — Guideposts magazine announced the start of its annual Church Award competition and the search for churches and synagogues with unusually imaginative community outreach programs A total of $9000 will be awarded to five churches for innovative programs extending beyond the congregation to the community at large A $5000 grant will be awarded to the winning church and $1000 citation awards will go to each of four other congregations In addition nominators of the winning churches receive checks for $100 from the magazine Churches of all denominations are eligible for these grants which
