He announced that A. I. Tippetts of Springville, Chairman of the Utah County Council on Aging programs has agreed to assume overall responsibility of the sessions. Stanley Wilson, Chairman of the Senior Citizens Council of Payson; Ellis Tuckett, Chairman of the Santaquin Council; and Tom Phillips, Chairman of the 1 GALLON O MILK From the desk of the Superintendent snack bars are now operating in the three district high schools. These snack bars are operated by the school lunch department and feature an infrared oven, french fryers and an instant malt machine. The snack bars open before lunch and stay open after the lunch hour, depending upon the needs of the individual school. At Springville High School and Payson High School the snack bar is available for use by students who have extremely short lunch periods due to their schedule or who have to eat before or after the regular lunch period. It is important that parents understand the lunch program. The price of a lunch at the snack bar is thirty cents -- the same as the regular lunch line. The snack bar lunch includes either a hamburger, pizzaburger or a hot dog, milk, french fries and a small salad item. If the student wishes to have a soft drink or a malt, the snack bar charges an additional ten or twenty cents, depending on the size of the drink or malt. Students buying the regular lunch may also purchase as additional items a drink or a malt. If you have any question or concern over the lunch program, please arrange with your principal to visit school and have lunch with us. The snack bars were purchased from school lunch funds and will be paid for by the profit from the snack bars over a period of two or three years. We are hoping that the snack bar will encourage students to stay at school during the school day. This should reduce truancy, lateness for class and encourage students to stay and do their home work assignments at the school We hope that parents wiU support this important program and encourage their students to stay in school and take advantage of the resource centers, study Modern fish-burg- er, areas and there to soften the massive Inc. of Denver will handle the specialty job of lifting the roof. Dear Reader; I found the following memorandum i in my mail box at school recently. Its very profound so unless you are in the mood to do some deep thinking, venture no further but turn to something of a lighter nature. TO: All Employees From; Central Office Subject: Excessive Absence Due to the excessive number of absences from work, the following rules and procedures wiU be put into effect as of this date. Sickness: No excuse. We will no longer accept your doctors statement as proof, as we believe that if you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work. Death: (other thani your own) This is no excuse. There is nothing you can do for them, as we are sure that someone else with lesser position can attend to the arrangements. However, if the funeral can be held in the late afternoon we will be glad to let you off one hour early, provided that your share of the work is ahead enough to keep the job going in your absence. Leave of Absence: (for an operation) We are no longer allowing this practice. We wish to discourage any thoughts that you need an operation, as we belive as long as you are an employee here, you will need all of whatever you have and should not consider having anything removed. We hired you as you are, and to have anything removed would certainly make you less than we bargained for. Death: (your own) This will be accepted as an excuse, but we would like two weeks notice, as we feel that it is your duty to teach someone else your job. Restroom Breaks: Too much time is being spent in the restroom. In the future we will follow the practice of going to the restroom in alphabetical order. For instance: Those whose names begin with A will go from 8:00 to 8:15; B wiU go from 8:15 to 8:30 and so on. If you are unable to go at your appointed time it will be necessary to wait until the next day when your turn comes again. Well, rounded scale. Scheduled for use by fall of 1971, this new sports and cultural facility will accomodate some 23,000 people. Overall, Geneva Works will supply approximately 2750 tons of steel used in BYUs football stadium. The construction of the roof is unique and a little more complicated than usual in that many of the steel beams are positioned at sightly differing angles. The method to raise the roof is also unique. After completion at ground level 52 hydraulic jacks will be used to lift the framework 38 feet to the top of 42 steel columns positioned around the outside edge. The jacks will be connected to four control panels, the operation synchronized so that no one jack will be more than an inch out of alignment with the others. This will be the biggest job ever done by this method taking approximately 15 days to complete. Everything is expected to be for lifting by mid October. Excavation of the ground underneath will give the fieldhouse its full dimensions. It will measure 340 feet by 380 feet, inside height from the main arena floor to the ceiling trusses will be about 80 feet.
