Present with the above mentioned were Junes brother, Loyd Berry of Melboure, Florida; Betty Hurst, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Bori, Reed and Ursla Wayman, Clyde Robbins and Diane Francom, Ethel ' Hirst, Iva Nay, Ruby Meredith, Joyce Jacklin, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jackson, Lora Rowley, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Butler, Lawrence and Ruth Thompson, Delo Rowley, Larry and Cheryl Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Layne Blatter Angus and Mae Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Berry and Carlos and Phylis Schramm. Miss Berry received her doctors degree in education from Brigham Young University Friday. Her major was curriculum and instruction and minor was library science. She was employed as librarian at theBYU Laboratory School (B.Y. High) from 1948-19and when the school closed she enrolled as a full time student at BYU. 4-- COUNTY EXHIBIT Congratulations are in order to the H girls who exhibited articles at the County exhibit recently. They received giuch praise and commendation, on their work. From the Busy Bees, Eloise Henry and Denise Miller both received blue ribbons. Pam Nelson, Janice White, Susan Christensen, Sarah Cook, Christie Palmer, Dana Lee Herbert and Darlene Jensen all received red ribbons. From the H Hopers Marsha Stoneman received a blue ribbon. Marie Stoneman, Gloria Barney, Jana Long and Shauna Stoneman, aU received red ribbons. From the Skylarks, Donna Cook received a blue ribbon. Liz Long, Rae Ann Okel-berand Patty Cook received red ribbons and Bonnie Jacobsen received a white ribbon. From the Stars of Goshen Cindy Nelson received a blue ribbon. Cheryl Steele, Gaye Montoya, Lisa Hansen and Anna Marie Wolf received red ribbons. Special congratulations goes to Janice White, Rex Kay and Brent Jasperson. Janice won first place in the junior division of public speaking. Rex and Brent won first place as a team in the junior division for demonstrations. They gave a demonstration on first aid for bleeding. 4-- 4-- 68 Miss Berry received her Masters degree from the University of Utah and her Bachelors degree from BYU. She has also attended the University of San Francisco and Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles for summer sessions. The College of Idaho has had Miss Berry as guest instructor in library science for the past three summes. In September she will begin working on a new education project under the direction of Dr. Asahel Woodruff of the University of Utah. She was selected as one of five curriculum specialists for the Western States Small Schools Project (WSSSP) to improve the educational opportunities of children in rural schools. This project includes the states of Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. Her role will be as media specialist. Active in professional activities, Miss Berry was President of Provo Branch She has also of A.A.U.W. in 1962-6served as President of the Utah Library Association School Library Section, and on Young Adult Committees of the American Library Association. She is now Nebo Stake Director of Libraries andNebo Stake Sunday School Teaching Aids Specialist. She is the daughter of Mrs. Marjorie C. Berry and sister of William N. Mrs. Reva Allgood reports an active weekend, highlighted by attendance at the Bolton Reunion in jhe Granger Hunter meeting house. She left Payson Friday morning, stopped in Orem to visit Mrs. Blanch Carter, a long-tim- e friend, then went on to Draper, where she visited her brothers, Ralph and Conrad Mitchell, and Later she visited her sister, family. Lucille Golseh in Midvale, with whom she spent the night. Next morning she went to Cecil Granger to see her sister-in-laMitchell, and they attended the Bolton Reunion together. Born Feb. 6, 1906 in Spanish Fork, he was a son of Joseph and Margaret Roach Chappie. He married Elvern Robbins Jan. 14, 1930 in Provo. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was educated in Spanish Fork schools and worked for the Utah State Highway Department for the past 25 years. He also worked with the Fire Dept, at Hill Field. Mr. Chappie was a member of the Spanish Fork Volunteer Fire Dept, where he was chief for two years. He also belonged to the Utah Firemans Assn. A member of the LDS Church, he held the office of elder in the Spanish Fork Third Ward. He was also a past member of the Spanish Fork Lions Club. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Paul Chappie, Spanish Fork; Keith Cnap-pl- e, Salt Lake City; a daughter, Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. Selby Dixon of Payson joined their daughter, Marilyn, and husband, John Perkins and children of Salt Lake City in a vacation trip spent in Denver, Colo., and other areas of Colorado. Help Wanted May 9, at Tooele. Mr. Bates was reared by Jospeh W. and Martha Bates after the death of his mother whenhewas seven weeks old and his father some time later. He was educated in Pay-so- n schools and was graduated from Payson High School. He later attended Brigham Young University for a period of two years. He was sexton at Payson City Cemetery for a few years and in 1946 became city recorder serving under mayors Floyd Harmer, Reed Jones, Heber Jones, G.O. Dunford, Eugene Hillman, Lamar Losser and Howard Riley. He was a ham radio operator and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the LDS church. Surviving are his widow, one son, Joseph Bates; one daughter, Rosemary Bates, all of Payson; two stepsons, Gary McBride and Ted McBride, both of Springville; a stepdaughter, Patty Selman, Mapleton; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Leona) Thomas and Mrs. James (Arlene) Daniels, both of Payson; two foster sisters and a foster brother, Mrs. Susan Ashby, Payson; Mrs. Harriet B. Francom, Spanish Fork; Charles H. Bates, Blackfoot, Idaho. Funeral services were conducted MonWard church day at Payson Park-Secounder direction of Bishop Bernell Evans. Burial was in Payson City Cemetery under direction of Keith Jolley Mortuary. Thats our business Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1970, for Roy R. Hoffer, a retired carpenter, who died Friday in Barton Memorial Hospital at South Lake Tahoe. He was 65. Mr. and Mrs. Hoffer had been visiting their daughter, Mrs. Elaine Oakes of South Lake Tahoe, for two weeks when he suddenly became ill. The cause of death was a cerebral hemmorrage. Hoffer, a native of York, Nev., came to Palo Alto in 1937 from Payson, Utah. He made his home most recently at 345 Leland Ave., Palo Alto.
