Show t 10 THE PAYSON CHRONICLE Thursday, August 6, 1970 i Spring Lake Events tenon Huish Phone 465-263- 8 A group of 14 couples and their children from Spring Lake enjoyed a campout at the grove of tree? near the Girls Home in Santaquin Canyon over the July 24th weekend. They took their campers or trailer houses with them. Enjoying the time spent there were Mr. and Mrs. Don Jacobson, Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Garth Peart, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Elvon Butler, Mr. and Mrs. George LeFevre, Mr. and Mrs. Junior L. Lundell, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Christopherson, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Lyman, Mr. and Mrs. R.N. Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Renzello, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Spainhower, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Menlove, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Peay, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Carter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Mower, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Knapp and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Houser. The men went horseback riding and their wives visited together in camp. The children, among other things, had fun toasting marshmellows. who were visiting with their grandparents spent Tuesday and Wednesday at Tenneys Flat In Santaquin Canyon attending the John Henery Tew family reunion which is held annually for about one week. Some members may go for the full week taking their campers with them while others attend for as much time as they can. Approximately 175 people, four generations, attended. They have a very good time visiting together and enjoying the cool canyon. Mrs. Chesley returned pleasant visiting Chess (Ruth) Walker, her son, Walker and daughter, Emma, home Saturday from a most and enjoyable twelve day trip with her relatives in Indiana and with her husbands relatives in Virginia. At Frankfort, Indiana they stayed with a cousin, Mrs. Byron Wiggan, and visited with other relatives in Indianapolis.- They met Eugene Hall, Mrs. Walkers half brother and was just in time to get in on a birthday party for her cousin, Mrs. Lewis Bridge and her husband, who was celebrating her 76th birthday at Deputy, Ind. and also visited with Bessie Schidlappe, They spent two days with Mr. Walkers cousin, Benjamin Frank Walker, at Lincolnburg, Virginia. From there they visited the father, senior B. Frank Walker and were present for another birthday party for Mr. Walker who was celebrating his 85th birthday. At Tye River they met and visited with her husbands uncle, Jasper Walker and with his guest for two days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Deuel last week was Mrs. Deuels mother, Mrs. Beatrice Y. Moore, from a rest home in Orem. A Mr. and Mrs. Frank Griffith spent a very pleasant week at their cabin in Strawberry last week. They left after Sunday evening meeting and returned home on Saturday. While there they did some fishing. All ward members present enjoyed the fish and chip dinner served on long tables placed on the lawn back of the church. The affair was planned by the bishopric and Mr. Jim Revel and his wife, Elaine, did the deep frying of the fish and chips. It was a tasty dinner along with the cantalope Sunday served for dessert. with Mrs. Fannie Green, another relative they met. She also met a first cousin, Karl Carbin Wilson, who took her around to meet other relatives while Chesley and Emma visited a carnival They spent one day shopping. On the way home they stayed at Rock Springs, Wyo. They report the country where they visited was very green and beautiful with rolling hills. They enjoyed meeting and talking with relatives they had never seen before. Annual Salmon supper great success Sixty-sevfamily members of Mrs. Beatrice Y. Moore of Orem and six guests of family members spent a very pleasant time together Saturday afternoon, Aug. 1, at Saratoga at a family with visiting and an evening picnic dinner. The children enjoyed swimming and other entertainment there. Going from here were Mr. and Mrs. George LeFevre, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Deuel and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Vincent and children, Marty, Lee Ann and Sheree, en son, Milton Walker and family. At Gladstone they visited Joseph Walker and some of his married children and families at Amherst, Virginia. They went to see Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Crosby at Grelma, whom they had met before when he was visiting in Utah and they stayed overnight neath. The salmon was brushed frequently with butter, spread on with a celery stalk. Tables were set in long rows in the shade near the fish pond. The menu included baked potatoes, corn on the cob, hard rolls, homemade cake and other goodies. The salmon was shipped by air from the Northwest. Bishop Ronal Crump and his counselors Ben Leatham and Willis Pulver, were general chairmen assisted by auxiliary heads and priesthood leaders. Funds will be used for the wards contribution to the welfare fund and also to help in the building program. Bishop Crump said an addition will be built on the church that will house a new bishops room, library, new classrooms. Present and lightclassrooms will be ing will be updated. More than 600 persons attended the annual Salmon supper at Memorial Park Friday evening sponsored by PaysonPark Ward. It was almost worth the price of the meal to watch the salmon being cooked alongside the park. The big slabs of salmon were placed on screens that were fixed about 30 feet from the ground and low fires of fruit tree wood burned under- of Spring Lake. He grew up here. They will spend two or three days with his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin DeStJeor and family at Orem and with Mrs. Menlove s sister at Logan and will also visit other places around the area before returning home. They attended Sunday School and fast meeting and were happy to meet and greet relatives and old acquaintances. are former residents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Menlove and seven children arrived here Friday from their home at Chandlier, Ariz. for a weeks vacation in Utah with relatives and friends. They were guests of his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Menlove and family. They Visiting on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Eggett and family were his brother, Mr. Monte Eggett, and friends from Bountiful They were Sunday School and fast meeting visitors. Everybody Is Reading The Payson Chronicle Mr. and Mrs. Russell Stauffer (Nedra Barnett) and family have moved to Spring Lake from Salt Lake City to make their home. Mr. Stauffer is employed by the State Farm Insurance Company and wiU be working out from Provo. They have a trailer which they have placed on land owned by her brother, Elbert Barnett, southeast of town. We welcome them to Spring Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Durrant and four children, Tammy, Debbie, Cindy and Ricky returned home Tuesday night from a four day vacation trip to Grand Junction, Colo. They visited with Mrs. Durrants sister, Jerry, her husband, Keith Warensld and family. They brought their nephew, Randy Warenski home with them. He will visit with them for a while. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Saunders and children, Mary, Lynette and Mark and her brother, Mike Butterfield, from Murray returned home Wednesday night from a very pleasant and enjoyable three day outing at Fish Lake. They went to attend the annual Farm Bureau Convention usually held at Fish Lake to which the families are invited to go along. Besides attending the meetings for one and one-ha- lf days they succeeded in getting in some good fishing. One night they were entertained by a picture show showing a travelogue of Mexico and musical numbers. The children of those attending were given boat rides when they wished to go for a ride. They had a very good time. They stayed overnight enjoying the outing and fishing. Recent houseguests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Revel were his sister and brother-in-laPearl and Robert Passey, and daughter, Nancy, from Pismo Beach, Calif. They visited three days over the July 24th weekend and returned home on Saturday. Other visitors at the Revel home have been Patsy and Steve Wride and five children formerly of Calif.
