Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Tidwell (Suzy Hancock) Lovely ceremony unites young couple Suzy Hancock, daughter of Harry J. .and Jean Hancock, became the bride of Bryant Tidwell, son of L. Dwane and Ardys Tidwell, of Nephi, Utah, in a ceremony performed by S. Roland Lindsay, grandfather of the bride, at the Ward Church on March 19, 1970. The ceremony was witnessed by relatives, family members and friends of the bride and groom. Six grandparents of the couple were also present. Park-Seco- nd The bride was lovely in a gown of silk organza, which featured an empire waist, Mandarin collar and full sleeves accented with lace. Her veil was floor length, topped by sheer illusion which was capped with velvet roses and seed pearls. Christine Boyle and Jana Whitby were bridesmaids and Dale Bird of Nephi and Bruce Hall of Payson served as best men. The bride was also attended by Stacy Hancock and Tammy Tidwell, young sisters of the bride and groom. A three-tiere- d birthday cake and potted Easter lilies decorated the head table and five other tables were attractively decorated for the hot dinner that was served. A program that included communitv singing was presented, after which games were played and pictures were taken. Mr. McClellan was presented with many lovely city Mr. McClellan was born in Payson on March 29, 1890, his parents were Mr. and Mrs. Jasper McClellan. He married Klea Wilson Dec. 24, 1913, in Salt Lake City and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake temple. They are parents of eight children, three having died in infancy and a son, Fred, who died as a young man in 1963. Now retired, he operated a bakery on Main Street in Payson from 1923-3He has also been employed as a carpenter and beekeeper. He is a member of the LDS church, holding office as elder, and a home teacher until recently. He is a member of the board of the Community Action Program in Utah County and a member of the building committee in the Payson Senior Citizens. Both he and his wife are members of the telephone committee in the same organization. Asa hobby Mr. McClellan spent much time working on woodcraft in his home shop, making articles which he presents to his family as gifts. Hosting the birthday party were their son, Wayne, and his wife of Orem; and their daughters and husbands as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Henline, Mr, and Mrs. McKay Perkins, Mr, and Mrs.r Ross Montague, all of Magna. A total of 55 persons attended, including a granddaughter, Mrs. Claude Adams and four children of Duarte, Calif. The McClellan couide have 25 grandchildren and 21 0. Shower entertains Miss Floy Kay Yorgason was honored at a kitchen shower Saturday, April 4, given by her aunt, Mrs. Francis Haskell, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Yorgason, A group of relativesand friends gathered to enjoy games and refreshments. Miss Yorgason will exchange nuptial vows with James Michael OBrien in a ceremony to be performed May 2 at Memory Grove Reception Center in Salt Lake City. Sharon Bowen Engagement news Mr. and Mrs. Albert William Bowen announce wedding plans for their daughter, Sharon Bowen, and Robert Dan Bas-coson of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Owen Bascom, of Spring Lake. The couple will be married May 29, 1970 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and will be honored that evening at a reception. All friends and relatives are invited m, to call Sharon is a graduate of the Payson High School and LDS Seminary. She is presently attending BYU. She is a Junior and is majoring in elementary education. Robert graduated from Minidoka County High School, Idaho. He has recently returned from the French-Ea- st Mission and at present is attending the BYU and majoring in land management. COOKERS The meeting of the Kookie Cookers was This was our held Saturday, April 4. first meeting of the year. We elected officers at this meeting. Our president is Wendy Gull, vice president is Tamara Durrant, secretary and treasurer is Linda Laird, and the reporter is Kelly Ann Peery. Our leader is Pauline Crook. We are taking cooking, phase 1. Kelly Ann Peery, Reporter BUSY BEES CLUB On April 2, 1970 the Busy Bees Sewing Club met at the home of their leader, Nancy Evans. Elouise Henry offered the opening prayer and pledge was led by Pamela Nelson. Pledge of Allegiance led by Denise Miller. Roll call and minutes were read. Practice demonstrations were given by Darlene Jensen, Sarah Cook, Pam Nelson and Susan Christensen. One report was given by Elouise Henry. The closing prayer was offered by Christie Palmer and Christie also served refreshments. 4-- H PAYSON HORSE CLUB The first meeting of the season was held at the Payson Middle School with leader Dwane Haskell in charge. Plans for the program this summer were made. The club was divided into two groups with Dwane Haskell taking the Senior Division and Don Zeeman taking the Junior Division. The divisions will meet separately most of the time, but they will remain one club. Officers for the Senior Division were elected last fall and consist of Paul Lund-el- l, President; Kent Dixon, Vice President; and Kim Montegue, Secretary. Officers for the Junior Division elected were Doug Loveless, Telephone Committee and Shauna Pierce, Reporter. Other officers will be elected later. A joint meeting will be held Thursday, April 16, at 7:00 p.m. at the Payson Middle School. Anyone interested in joining this club is invited to attend. Every year we always try to send someone to Girls State; Selling place mats is our latest project we think our club is great! What have we done in the Beta Cultus Club in 1969? We gave a TV set to Payson Hospital, and also Dimes for Pines. At Christmas time we sold candles and candy, bought some of our own. Wrapped the rest with gift packages and took to a local rest home. Gave to a vocational scholarship fund, also a fund for the Heart, The hours of compassionate service to those in need was a start To begin this year of 1970 and I forgot to say, We always have a float for Payson Homecoming days. KOOKIE 65 Shirley Judson and baby, Michael, who have been visiting with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wilson, left during the week for Corpus Christi, Texas, where she will spend a few weeks with her mother. Mrs. Geltz, a member of the Dearborn Stake presidency, came to Utah to attend the Primary Conference in Salt Lake City. ing. Utah Dairy Wives The. story of her remarkable escape from Red China only hours before the Communists took over the country will be told by Wan Kei Yin, the daughter of a Nationalist general, at the annual meeting of Utah Dairy Wives Saturday, April 18, at the Rodeway Inn in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Robert S. (Lois) Wright, Orem, president of the Utah Dairy Wives, an auxiliary of the American Dairy Association of Utah, invites all dairy wives in the state to the meeting with registration from noon to 12:30 p.m. The executive board and Dairy Wives county presidents will meet at 10 a.m. Miss Yin came to Utah in 1962 from Hong Kong. She speaks three languages and has studied at Weber State College and at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints college in Haqaii. She was graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in interior design- Dixon SKYLARD CLUB The H Skylard Club was called to order by Lizzie Long. Prayer by Bonnie Jacobson, Pledge of Allegiance led by Rae Ann Okelberry, the H pledge by Donna Cook. A demonstration was given by Pat Cook on selections of the proper thread to use. After song practice we worked on our dresses. Bonnie Jacobson served refresh4-- 4-- ments. There were 5 members, 1 teacher and 3 visitors present. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Daniels have returned home after enjoying an extended trip to Florida with her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Walker of Colorado Springs, Colo., who purchased a house boat at Sarasota, Florida. The two couples'put the boat into several lakes and rivers before leaving the southland, vacationing for an entire week on one of the lakes. While at Sarasota they were joined by the Daniels son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Continued on Page Five Nebo First District, Federated Womens Clubs held a spring convention Saturday at Spanish Fork High School with Spanish Fork Clubs as host to the event. Elections were held with Mrs. Max Orme, Nephi, elected president to succeed Mrs. Faye Mattinson, Payson, who presided at the convention. Other officers elected at the meet were Mrs. Curtis Oberhansly, Spanish Fork, Mrs. Roy Johnson, first Mrs. Springville, second Sally Peery, Payson, recording secretary; Mrs. Bennie Rosenbaum, Spanish Fork, treasurer; Mrs. J.A. Strong, Springville, auditor; and Mrs. Stella Day, Fillmore, historian. Mrs. Wendell Winger, state president, was installation officer. Other state officers present were Mrs. Bryce Green, Roosevelt, treasurer; Mrs. Howard Milne, Salt Lake City, junior clubs; Mrs. Earl Goates, state correspondant; and Mrs. Golden Robbins, state second nt. Mayor Timothy Moran of Spanish Fofk gave the welcoming address with a response by Mrs. Mattinson. Mrs. Gerald Pearson, Provo, one of the new successful writers, was guest speaker during the forenoon. A flag ceremony was presented by Scout Troop 73 of Spanish Fork Second Ward and musical selections were given by the Choralettes, directed by Beth Gee and accompanied by Janet Hales. A treasurers report was given by Mrs. A.O. Gardner and the auditors report was given by Mrs. William Manhardt. Roll call and minutes were by Mrs. Don A. Fullmer. Roster of names of new officers was read by Mrs. Lynn Aitken of the nominating committee. Mrs. Richard Morrison, parliamentarian, assisted with the convention. A musical prelude was played by a string ensemble composed of Rosilene, Mary and Patricia Swenson. Mrs. Max Orem conducted the luncheon session and introduced Mrs. Golden W. Robbins as speaker. New officers were installed during the afternoon session. Musical numbers were presented by Mrs. Frank Nelson, Mrs. LeGrand Ward and Mrs. William Boyack, who sang vocal trio numbers, accompanied by Mrs. Afton Healey. Departmental meetings were held under direction of club leaders as follows: executive, Mrs. Faye Mattinson; conservation, Mrs. Irvin Day; fine arts, Mrs. Mario Pexton; public affairs, Mrs. Noel Reece; home life, Mrs. Marcellus Chard; CIP, Mrs. E.C, Sherwood; international affairs, Mrs. Harriet Ellason. Council presidents reports were given by Mrs. Blaine Clyde, Springville; Mrs. Curtis Lofgran, Payson; Mrs. Boyd Jenkins, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Elmo Wilson, Nephi; Mrs. Richard Morrison, Delta; and Mrs. Lynn Aitken, Fillmore. Mrs. Boyd Jenkins was chairman of the convention, assisted by Mrs. Robert Mrs. Jay Orton, Mrs. Frank McKell and Mrs. Frank Frampton, all of Spanish Fork. Luncheon was served by ladies of a Spanish Fork Relief Society. Mrs. Noel Reece was named Club Woman of the Year from Nebo First District and will represent the district at the state convention next month in Springville. |
