Traditional Fourth set for Salina City DoYouHaveA Pioneer Ancestor? “Do you have a pioneer ancestor?” Be prepared to answer this question when you come to Gunnison’s July Fourth activities this year To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first pioneers’ arrival in Utah pioneer descendants will be given a badge to wear during the festivities Pioneers in this case are defined as anyone who crossed the plains before 869 when the transcontinental railroad was completed A space is left on the badge to write in your ancestor’s name Do a little research and come to the park prepared Be sure to get a badge for everyone in your family and then watch for badged people the rest of the day to see the heritage of pioneer ancestry in our valley Festivities surrounding Independence Day will follow the same pattern as year’s past and are as listed: Sunday June 29 Patriotic Fireside Time: 7:00 pm As the fireside enters its fourth year and becomes a tradition the idea of ” endures taking “a quiet moment to remember Speakers this year are Dr Lamar H Stewart and Troy Birch The fireside will be in the LDS Stake Center and admission is free Thursday July Talent Show will begin at 5:30 with All That Jazz entertainment Ray Smith the emcee for the evening says that eight local groups and soloists will entertain throughout the dinner hour ending about 8: 5 pm Concert Time: 8:30 pm LuDon and Sound Qwest return to help Gunnison usher in another Fourth of July holiday Kindly return your chairs from the concert area (Southwest comer of park) to the pavilion area when the concert is over Fireworks Time: 9:50 pm A donation from Gunnison City and the proceeds from the dinner will pay for this $5000 show Get your team together for VOLLEYBALL!
