Service announced that interest rates for the calendar quarter beginning April 1996 will decrease to seven percent for overpay ments eight percent for underpay ments and ten percent for large corporate underpax ments The o crpax ment rate for the portion of corporate o crpax ments exceeding $ 0000 w ill decrease to 55 percent Under the Internal Revenue Code the rate of interest is determined on a quarterly basis the rate on underpay ments is one percent higher than the rate on o crpax ments and the rate for large corporate underpayments is two percent higher than the rate on underpayments The interest paid on the portion of a corporate overpayment of tax exceeding $10000 for a taxable period is the sum of the federal rate plus 0 5 of a percentage point The interest rates
