s X" Thanks to the Bringhursts Letter to the Editor On behalf of Millard School District the Board of Education and Delta High School would like to thank Linda Bnnghurst and her husband Mike for the many years of would like to publicly dedicated service they have given to the program the change of assignment apologize for the unprofessional manner m which we handled Linda is a person of integrity and has done everything she could in the best interest of the girls We thank her for that Sincerely Raymond J Timothy PhD Superintendent Thanks to Roger Dear Editor For several years now the Oak City Wards have been blessed with beautiful (lower was no exception Roger Anderson arrangements almost every Sunday Mother’s Day has a talent that blesses the lives of all who attend the Oak City Wards He doesn’t just Confermake a little bouquet He makes an arrangement that would go well in the new he gets little recognition for his labor ence Center at general conference Much of the time of love Thanks so much Roger it add so much to our meetings Scott and Bonnie Sheriff very beneficial Pre-Scho- Dear Editor We are truly lucky here in Delta and have a program I am writing this to stress the importance of the fact that we need to keep this going have had all three of and know how it benefited them have seen all social and my children in academic skills develop have watched them grow and leant realized it turns a little into bright and prosperous student It is amazing the difference that it makes The teachers have patience love values and skills that sometimes parents do not They work hard to teach them these new achievements Just out of curiosity I polled Mrs Burton’s third and fourth grade class 22 of the 23 students went to pre- 18 school So this is a reminder registration for Delta North is May 2001 You can schedule appointments to have testing We need to keep this in our school system Please contact your legislator wjjh might be the only way to keep this rewarding opportunity for our children " Respectfully Charlie Tolbert To my foster parents wherever they may be jT9tjVtJ3Jt constelw e start to get a As w e approach preview of the on coming summer lations It is dunng this week and the next that our window of opportunity becomes extremely good since our Moon reaches it’ Last Quarter phase on Tuesday the 15 and nses well after 00 hours This condition get better with each passing night giving us ample time to view deep space objects The planets Mercury Venus Jupiter and Saturn are quickly setting shortly after sunset all of which are in the constellation of Taurus “The Bull" Therefore for our planet watchers this month will be the last opportunity to see them before they disappear into the solar glare of the Sun to later become our early morning planets Shortly after 22 5 the red planet Mars makes its appearance in our Southeast not too color is far from the great constellations of Sagittarius and Scorpio Its bright such that it is impossible to overlook this planet However to properly observe Mars it is advisable to wait 17 to 2 hours later so that the planet is far enough from the horizon to prevent atmospheric distortion This means that your best observing times will be in the early hours after midnight when it is darkest and the atmosphere has truly stabilized after our warm days A hint to observing Mars with any optical equipment is to avoid setting an instrument on concrete since one may encounter heat radiation waves coming off the cooling concrete This w ill cause distortion of the planet Mars especially under high magnification One of the best locations is in the grass or on just plain sand or earth If you happen to own a telescope with an aperture of at least three inches you might m the constellation of Lyra located slightly northtry to locate the Ring Nebula wards of due east Lyra is easy to locate since it is marked by the star Vega The diagram and photograph below will help in finding the constellation and the famous M57 With binoculars such as a pair of 10X50’ the nebula will only present itself as a fuzzy patch of light Best views are obtained with telescopes in the 8 inches of aperture or more using a magnification of 00X or more - - Many people might note that the great band of stars known as the Milky W'ay seems to have disappeared from the sky which is so prevalent during our winter rights If one were to go outside away from the glare of city lights and any other artificial lights and look from the north to the south lying low on the eastern horizon this band of stars can be seen faintly almost like a glow a couple of hours before sunrise If an observer were to wait till 03 00 to 04 00 hours this same band of stars can be overhead much like in the wintertime Many might note at this time that observing conditions improve dramatiapcally and with the constellations of Cygnus Scorpio and Sagittarius a pearance is somewhat duplicated In reality as we look towards the constellation of Sagittarius “The Archer” that resembles a teapot the number of stars are far greater than in the winter In this direction we are now in a position in our orbit about the Sun to look directly into the center of our galaxy where the concentration of stars are far greater Try observing in this direction and constellation with a good pair of binoculars Better yet if you have access to a rich field telescope of four inches or better in aperture with the capability oflow magnification (30x50) you would sec images much like the photograph below With normal size optical equipment one could spend hours in the core of our galaxy The photograph was made with a 5" camera with an exposure time of one hour This area is known as the Great Sagittarius Star Cloud The bright spot at the top of this photograph is the Nebula M8 that can be seen with just a pair of binoculars Note the density of stars that cannot be separated by even the largest telescopes G2 EDIGAIHSREGIA'UISiTiS These medical specialists are available at Delta Community Medical Center and Fillmore Community Medical Center Call the number listed for an appointment AUDIOLOGY Dear Editor These are sentiments expressed by adults who were in foster care as children The memories of even small kindnesses provided by their foster parents have lasted through the years have never been able to say You were such a positive starting point in my thank you The death of my mother was difficult at such a young age and we were blessed to have a family that was willing to take five children in and give them a home am in search of the wonderful family who took care of me from 766-- 1267 want to thank you for taking pictures of me as a baby You were a very important part of my life growing up and deserve a W'hat prompted me to write today is my need to say thanks to those who helped me along the way Your faces are blurry and your names forgotten but your kindness is remembered My story seems sad but it was those hard times that made me the person am today Sometimes the most unlikely cases are the ones that turn out the best For those who remember having me know that landed up You sent a very nice baby book with your handwritten notes and photos along with me to my adopted parents I have treasured it! You also sent along a blue and white checkered suitcase a ceramic basket with bunnies and a sweater set from my birthmother still have them all was told that you had five children of your own I feel very blessed to have two families care so much for me when some kids have no one who cares What will always remember most is your home smells and what we did on the weekends when everyone was home The pancake breakfasts that looked as big as my highchair Not to mention the cuddling you gave me when I was sick at night and needed will forever love both of you for your love and care With all childhood you to hold me love Jenny want you to know that miss you You showed me motherly love remember how me affer school and how I ate teddy grahams after school everyday color would with you for snack miss you guys and love you very much You were my guardian angels still have the yellow sweater with the blue elephants that my foster mother knitted for me guess they would be elderly by now but just wanted to tell them I loved them and may God bless them wherever they may be for taking me as a foster child Our community has many children between the ages of 8 and 6 who need a safe place live while their families work out their problems Every child deserves to have a caring adult in his life Will you be the one to make a difference?
