Show JL Page 8 Millard County Chronicle Progress M3V1L-I32f- l j '' rt Delta North G C'v EIementarr In The News 32 Swim Pool news saves Last Friday May 4 Natalie Moultrie got a piece of candy lodged in her throat and started choking Not being able to talk she went to the drinking fountain hoping to free the candy but to no avail She started to panic and that’s when the rest of the class noticed her plight When the Heimlich Maneuver was mentioned Saincha without hesitation stated that she knew it and immediately put her knowledge into use The candy fairly shot out and a light headed Natalie had to sit down and revive This all happened in Mr Kirk Penney ’s fourth grade room at the Delta North Elementary Saincha is the daughter of John and Melc Reeves of Hinckley Utah Natalie of Rick and Debbie is the daughter Moultrie of Delta Utah Delta Middle School Terry Fmlinson's 4th grade class Lundgren (upper nght) UAC AIE pictured with UAC Artist Shannon Lewis of Deseret has completed 10 miles of swimming Shannon is on the high school swim team and participated at the slate swimming nals at BYU last February The summer swim team is holding to raise their annual money for traveling expenses on SaL May 19 The pool encourages the community to support these young athletes by sponsoring a swimmer Swim team members will be out soliciting sponsors this week West Millard Community Swimming Pool announces admission and pass prices for the racquetball courts will be opening shortly The racquetball courts will be opened weekdays from 5:30 am to 10 pm and Saturdays 12 noon to 10 pm Reservations will be accepted Racquetball courts will cost $ 50 per person per hour There will be an age limit of 0 years or older Along with the racquetball courts WMCSP has purchased a“wallyball”net and ball Wallyball cost will be $500 an hour per court Summer Swim Lessons The pool is taking registration for summerswim lessons The schedule for the 1990 season is as follows: 8 Session I May June Session II June Session III 6 Session IV July Session V 3 July Session VI August Gasses run weekdays for 2 weeks and times are 9 10 and am The cost for each session is $ 5 per student and is due the first day of class For more information call the pool at Pass Sale The pass sale is in effect during the month of May Family year swim pass will be on sale for $65 The facility pass which includes use of the racquetball courts and swim pool will be on sale for $110 This sale will not be repeated until November so get your pass in time for the summer months ahead! life i Linda residency concludes Friday May 11 1990 was the final folkdancing residay of our dency with Mrs Linda Lundgren of the Utah Arts Counc’l Wc stneerely appreciate her many many efforts on behalf of the students an patrons of Delta North Elementary The artists provided by the Utah Arts Council always provide cxcepuonal struction for our students and Linda Lundgren was certainly no exception to that rule Linda put in many hoursof work with our students helping us to prepare for our upcoming Spring Festival (sec article) Many of the accompanying dances she taught our students will be performed for the public during the Festival Mrs Lundgren worked closely with fourth grade students from Mrs Terry Fmlinson’s class These students shared three performances with the public on Friday May 11 The first one was held at the West Millard Care Center We thank the staff and patients of that fine facility for allowing us the opportunity to perform for them (Special thanks are in order to Jenny Stylcr for scheduling this event into an already busy day) Our second production was for the residents at the Delta Sands We appreciated their gracious comments and applause In particular we thank Mrs Golda Christensen for helping to arrange for this performance The final performance of the day took place at Delta North Elementary at 9:55 am The students especially enjoyed dancing for their peers and they are to be commended for the great job they did They’d already Seen on their feet for over an hour but they still gave us their ALL The students performed a series of dances they had learned from the Russian culture They concluded each program with an American folkdance preparation they endured to entertain each and every one of us The program is sponsored in part by the National Foundation for the Arts the Utah Arts Council the Delta North Elementary PTA and Delta North Elementary This is our fifth year for hosting a residency at our school We look forward to future residencies with renewed anticipation Lights camera action This little note we send to you By way of "hand to hand” To tell you of a special treat For you we’ve well nigh planned IT’S A SMALL WORLD!
