school night in October we announced that we would be hiving a disaster drill this yew to see how prepared we were if an actual disaster were to happen We had our disaster drill on Monday April 30 1990 and were pleased over all with the quick response of the firemen ambulance team jeep posse and national guard We also greatly appreciated the cooperation of the Fillmore Hospital and those who work there This drill served a double purpose because the hospital must have two disaster drills a yew to remain accredited We found our weak areas and have quite a few things all departments have to work on but at least we know now what we must do to be better prepared The PTSA has a telephone tree we are developing which would enable all parents too be notified in the event of an actual disaster or if children must be evacuated out of the schools for any reason We used the disaster telephone tree volunteers in this diswith aster and it functioned well We are also sending home a packet that each family can use for their own emergency preparedness We hope you will discuss with your student things to do in a disaster to ensure their safety and well being The other people involved in helping in any emergency are all working on their areas of weakness so they will be better prepared in the future We are fortunate in this area that nothing has happened yet that would endanger our children or communities but we are in a strategic areas for the possibility of any of a number of disasters We hope you will prepare as families to face that possibility as it is very reaL Fillmore
