graduate of Delta High School Fillmore guard unit helps travelers On Tuesday the 13th of February 45 people made their overnight stop at the Fillmore National Guard Armory The snow storm that hit earlier that day made highways very dangerous to travel on Consequently the local motels filled up quickly and by 9:30 pm there was people needing overnight lodging without anyplace to stay The Sheriffs office was notified of he situation and the Sheriff contacted the Armory to see if it could be used as a place for stranded people to stay Col Phillip Peay Chief of Staff for the Utah Army National Guard was contacted for authorization and the Armory was opened Bedding form the sheriffs office was used and people were able to use mats form the Armory supply room to sleep on The guard staff made hot soup and beverages and staved through the night to offer assistance In the past years the Armory has been used for the same purpose aiding people when all commercial resources have been initiated by Mike Stykr The Millard Fillmore also received Library $100000 We really appreciate the support that is being given to libraries in the area AL1 the libraries in the county are working toward a networking system and will be very beneficial to our patrons We received a surprise package in the mail lately Russ Hall from Castle Dale was in the library several weeks ago and was looking in out Computer section He found it to be limited and sent us two computer books to put in the library We would like to thank him for his concern and thoughtfulness February 26th to March 2 we are going to be celebrating the birthday of Dr Scuss!
