Show Can’t get thankful on Thanksgiving? Call the Helpline for hints The “holiday horrors” are no joke Comaccording to Marvin Carter munity Services Director at Highland Ridge Hospital “The next month and a half will see an increase in depression suicide and alcohol and drug abuse” says Carter “It happens every year It will happen again this year” There are three main reasons according to Carter The abuse of alcohol or drugs seems to be more acceptable during the holidays This may be all right for some people but for the person who suffers from addictive disease it is an invitation for disaster Secondly there is the expectation that life is supposed to be better because of the holidays This isn’t always true especially if alcohol or drugs are a problem for a family These when not fully met can expectations cause depression and suicide in unstable individuals alcohol or Thirdly drug abuse cause and people to isolate themselves withdraw even if only in their own minds Seeing other people having a time can make together good people feel sorry for themselves Millard The President Millard Fillmore Librarf By Gwen Hunter Librarian Haunted House a “ghostly” success by Jody Ashman A hauntingly good time was had by all at
