There is no charge for the publication of your histories or photographs Mail to Angie Green PO Box 876 Fillmore UT for further 84631 Phone information Kanosh www w President Millard Fillmore of Kenny www Fillmore Hunter 25 South Librarian Utah Ruth Zmitravich 100 West Art Exhibit The month of February has been set room to exaside in the hibit the works of Millard High’s Art Sterling Scholar Jenny Wright Miss Wright has always had an interest in drawing and painting and has done several community projects in connection with the East Millard Fine Arts Guild designing their program booklet cover and posters for special events for this year A special Open House will be held followed by the at 7 pm on Feb regular monthly programs from the National Gallery of Art at 7:30 presented by Mr Jolley This month’s offering is “In Search of Rembrandt” and should be enjoyable and educational Everyone is cordially invited to both of these activities Refreshments will be served The program is sponsored by the Fillmore Civic Arts Council Book Menders Needed Anyone wishing to learn book mending and wanting to practice on our books should contact Mrs Hunter We now have supplies and instructions and piles of books It has been years since this project was attacked since we have been busy with the new facilities and the fund raising etc to accomplish this Of course the process of weeding books has been sadly neglected and must also be accomplished We are trying to improve our children’s section by taking out worn out books and replacing them with new ones andor mending the salvageable books Some of the oldest books are the favorite and since most are not reprinted we want them to last as long as possible There is also a need for volunteers for the desk on a regular basis Two hours one day a wee would help us out or immensely Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Magazines for Reference Volunteers DeVaun Mitchell and Kevin Lindstrom have helped Mrs Hunter rearrange back issue magazines for easy access for reference and research We are keeping 15 years of the news magazines Time US News & World Report and Newsweek along with National Geographic and Reader’s Several other Digest for research magazines are also kept including Utah Historical Quarterly and 5 years of most of the 50 magazines we take The Reader’s Guide to Periodical Literature is on hand for several years back These have proved invaluable in research for school reports and for dividual information searches Some magazines including Reader’s Digest and National Geographic are being kept as far back as we can find issues We find that when inventions or events are current they receive much more space in print and give many more details than when they are condensed for Encyclopedias oor history books For this reason some issues older than 15 years are kept ie the Ju1969 issue of Newsweek which ly 7 reported the Moon Landing New Books were addNew children’s ed to the shelves this last week We have a two volume picture dictionary and a new small set of children’s Encyclopedias for the wonderful curiosity of young children We are unique in the number of nonapparently fiction books checked out “just for the fun” of reading about things At library conventions and workshops we find that our library checks out many more of these than most libraries-- at least a great proportion of the checkouts are Last Day The final chance to hear Newel Day’s old time humorous songs- -a treat you will not want to missis today Jan 28 We have enjoyed the Folk Art Show very much and want to express our thanks for those who loaned work The video andor cassette tape of Newel singing these hilarous songs has been an added bonus If it is not playing when you come in ask for it to be put on Monday Feb 1: Pork chops with dressing Wednesday Feb 3: Roast beef Thursday Feb 4: Mild chili February is the month of Valentines Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all find a little extra love in our hearts to spread around? brothers and sisters with some of their family members Merle being one were in attendance of fourteen children five being deceased there were nine gathered together for the lovely funeral services Because of illness Sam’s and Myrl’s daughter wasn’t able to attend Nora Price is proud of her granddaughter VaLynn as are her parents Charles and DeAnn Price of Pinedale Wyoming In VaLynn’s junior year of high school she received the National Merit Scholarship In December she was voted Student of the Month at her Pinedale High School VaLynn left home on Jan 14 1988 for New Zealand as an Exchange Student where she will take her senior year Before leaving she had her picture taken with two exchange students in Pinedale one from Germany the other from Egypt Congratulations VaLynn We thoroughly enjoyed They with three other families from their Branch rented a bus had two bus drivers and a tour guide and left for children Italy there were altogether They visited the “Leaning Tower” in Pisa Then on to Florence and then to Rome where they spent two days of touring which wasn’t nearly enough time They saw so many wondrous old ruins and marveled at the type of society they had at that time They spent a whole day in Pompei which as is their son Spencer Always a pleasure to have our young people home from college Spending the weekend with their parents brothers and sisters Wendy call from her niece telling her that Noma’s sister Claire Schellenberger had passed away in St George where she lived with her daughter Claire had visited here and attended church with Noma many times with her husband the late Floyd Schellengerger She had lived a useful long life being past 90 years Funeral services were held in St George John and Julia Jackson came from their home in Mapleton and mother Noma to the services Noma’s sons Ted and wife Norma Jackson and Merlin and wife Zelda Jackson also attended services for Aunt Clair Burial for her took place in Montana where she and her late to Willard because he and Miles Jensen were missionary companions in Texas over fifty years ago When Elder Martin mentioned about laboring in Kanab also a missionary that struck a happy chord too He was asked if he knew their daughter Leah Bunting husband Bruce and family He said “Yes my companion and I Pam Seright’s taught their niece fiancee John Kesner in their home He was baptized by my
