Come join Overeaters Anonymous No dues No fees No weigh in We are a fellowship New Comers Workshop Fillmore City Library 75 West Center on August 15 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm For more information call EVANS BROWN MHS graduate gets recognition for his art of Dioramas Lloyd Brown is dioramic artist Lloyd Evans Brown son of Joseph and Marlene Tillotson and a Millard High graduate was featured in a show from July 11 through at the Valley House Gallery August Texas His artwork in Richardson was shown in conjunction dioramas with a citywide project to promote new and young artists Lloyd said that he received little formal art training in high school Following graduation from Millard High he attended Snow College and then the University of Nevada in Reno from It was there that which he graduated he received strict trining during his First two years of study and Dioramas are are often categorized by syles as ‘The diorama began as representative a model for ideas that occupied a lot of space Upon completing the first one I was amazed by the depth of field and the fact that the model was more complete than the idea it was built for” Brown stated Lloyd was first exposed to dioramic art when he viewed a showing of conartist David Hockney’s temporary stage production work at a gallery in Fort Worth Texas Although the picthe tures weren’t actually dioramas things concept was the at the were two and same time Following his exposrue to Hockney’s art Lloyd decided to invent his own style which is now labeled as mixed He used scenes in media dioramas Dallas and later in his own Richardson colorful producing neighborhood scenes that seem to jump out as they demand attention Brown’s dioramas were Initially mainly black and white charcoal Later many of the First black and whites were given color and now all have been done in color Along with paints Lloyd Brown uses twigs from his pieces of wood walks sand and small neighborhood pieces of wire and net wire As he walked he was able to enhance awareness and appreciation of his surroundings Creating dioramas is Lloyd’s way of expressing what he sees an effort he enjoys but does not find relaxing “As a child I remember looking through books and feeling that what I was looking at was incomplete because it was flat and cut off I am interested in a specific illusion place and it has been my hope that I have been able to make more complete statements of place with these extended fragments called dioramas” Brown said of his art Attention off highway vehicle owners Do you know where you can ride your off highway vehicle (OHV)? These questions and many more will be answered by representatives of the Utah State Park’s Division the US Forest Service BLM Millard County and Fillmore and Delta Cities The meeting will also be an opportunity for local residents to express their feelings on areas that they want open to off road vehicles The meetings are scheduled for: 7 Delta August 12 1987 pm Delta City Building Fillmore August 13 1987 7 pm POD at State Park performances of “A Christmas Carol" A member of actor’s equity he now plans to audition for other roles Royce Twitchell a California native is from a musical family Before going to college she played two seasons with the Sacramento Music Circus During her college years she was involved in school musicals and the Utah Valley Opera Both Noel and Royce graduated from BYU After graduation the two went to the Valley Music Hall which was in its first season as a professional theater That was when Noel began his tenure as caretaker for VMH and he and the family have lived in a house on the grounds since then On September Royce will take over as pit pianist for the Broadway show “Me and My Girl” The job will continue through November at least and then she’ll she what’s in store for her professionally She and Noel will live in her sister’s New York City apartment — and Noel So Royce are off to the big city!
