Provo Utah where both will continue their schooling at BYU East Millard bookmobile schedule Librarf Gwen Hunter Librarian Fillmore 25 South Utah 100 West Stale Library Workshop Three members of the Utah State Library Staff conducted a workshop in the Ephraim Library for librarians of this area including: Richfield Monroe Manti Mt Pleasant Ephraim and Fillmore on Wednesday July 30 The workshop was designed to give librarians a preview on the items on which the State staff will rate the services and holdings of each library during the present fiscal year which bagan in order to qualify for grants July which will be over and above their budgets These grants will be awarded in order to help the libraries provide an increase in quantity and quality of their services All librarians in the state will receive a basic grant but a grant for excellence will also be made to those who qualify Remember Story Hour Perhaps many families are on vacation at this last opportunity to squeeze a trip in before school starts but the numbers of children attending Story Hour has decreased slightly In case you have just “forgotten” when it is held let us remind you of the last two times: Thursday at 3:30 pm The last Story Hour of the season will be August 13 This week the Girl Scouts will present a Puppet Show and two Story Filmstrips We appreciate the service of these girls and their leader Dorothy Barkdull Histories Needed Every week we have visitors come in looking for histories which will help them in their searches for their own family ancestors We have a copy of “Milestones of Millard” “Builders of Early Millard” “Everything is Relative” Frank Beckwith’s two excellent books a few town histories and a few really good family histories We are asked to copy from these quite often and have many chances to sell copies if they could be had If any of our patrons have copies of family histories or biographies of early pioneers we would appreciate a copy for our Special Collections room The use of these would be supervised carefully W'e have found many times in one that a little biography will lead to very interesting findings for another searcher We congratulate the enjoyed a delicious dinner in the bowery Members of the family all brought food to help Ellie and Millie who prepared the meat and other dishes Jim Dallas was the Master of Ceremonies for a short program and he enlivened the occasion with funny stories Amy and Lynette Anderson accompanied by their mother Patti on an electronic keyboard sang a song “Genealogy” followed by two dances by Camille Chruma and Kendra Pierce Pat who are talented little doggers McBride told a short story and Ellie Archer gave a report of the organization’s finances and other business Jack McBride offered the prayer and blessing on the food Games for the children followed and adults enjoyed visiting and picture taking It was great to be together again We all missed Paul McBride who was unable to attend due to
