Show Millard MEADOW KANOSH Norma Gagon Ph Dathel Whitaker Ph If you wondered about the lack of news from Meadow for the past several weeks here’s why On June 15 I flew to So Calif to attend the high school and jr high graduations of granddaughters Heidi and Sheila Hansen A few days following this we went to Disneyland It had been probably ten years since I had been there and I thought I was too old for such things but it was fun! I even had the bruises to prove I rode “Thunder Mountain” On June 24 my daughter Ralene underwent major surgery and the other reason for my being there began For the next few weeks I cared for her and the family and myself for driving in heavy traffic This was my old “stomping ground” but I felt like an alien Things had changed in 8 years I arived back home feeling under the weather and kept to myself until going out to Bluebell Utah over July 24 and 25 for a Hancock Family Reunion Bishop and Shannon Carling had a house full His parents Olga and Benner plus many other family members had a joyous time The DeLynn Labrum’s enjoyed having Vickie and Clayton Allred and children here The twins Katie and Kaleb stayed on for the next week to help? Grandma and Grandpa On July 30 they all went for a horse back ride up the mountain They’ll go back to Moab with happy memories Mark and Shelly (Freeman) Butler and young won are vacationing with the Jim Freeman family and Mary and Jay Starkey have grandchildren Nicole and Dustan Draper staying with them Roma Bird has stopped flying around finally She has been on the go for weeks between here and Calif in connections with Cymoni’s wedding Her home has been filled with happy families The last of her flock son Veldon Bennett and family left on July 29 so the nest seems quite empty! On July 25 a beautiful garden wedding was held at the home of Clayton and Tonie Edwards here in Meadow Their daughter LaRae was married to Stacey Mezenen To start the occasion Flora Stewart played the wedding march on a portable organ Bishop DeLyle Carling performed the ceremony in a lovely setting emphasizing LaRae’s chosen colors of burgundy and pink Flower girl was little Chevelle Reeves Ring Bearer Master Charlie Ames Standing up with the young couple was best man Dale Brown and maid of honor Deana Bundy Following the ceremony a reception was held in the garden In the receiving line with the bride and groom were parents Clayton and Tonie Edwards and David and JoAnn Lemmon Both mothers wore pink gowns The maid of honor and brides maids Neca Watts recently returned from an exciting trip to Bermuda She accompanied her sister Teresa Denning of Boulder City NV Teresa is a State Farm Insurance Agent and head sold enough life insurance during the year to entitle her to qualify for a paid vacation for two in the beautiful island of Bermuda which is located 600 miles off the coast of So Carolina Along with a lot of sightseeing these two sister enjoyed the visiting and time together The trip was made on a 747 plane and the flight time only 5 hours from Phoenix AZ to their destination ‘Visiting Neca Watts is her son Bart Watts He is on a month vacation from Creighton University in Omaha NE where he is studying to become a dentist They are enjoying visiting each other and friends ‘Guests at the home of Melvin and Lorraine Whitaker have been two of her nephews Tony Nielson and family from West Valley City and Mark Nielson and family from American Fork They all enjoyed “life on the farm” and being around the animals especially to ride the horses Tony and family took in the ac24th July tivities at Kanosh’s Celebration ‘An overflow crowd attended funeral services on Thursday July 30 Natalie Lemmon and Michelle Hare were lovely in burgundy and pink dresses The best man and ushers Jim Clauson Roger Clauson and Wade Mezenen completed the line Attending the guest book which had been made was by LaRae’s new Collette Reeves Along with other family members and friends were grandparents Bud and Belle Wilson and Chuck and Marty Christensen As part of the delicious a refreshments beautiful heart shaped wedding cake was served to the guests Following a short honeymoon Stacy will leave for Colorado where he will be entering the military service LaRae will stay here for a brief time until she can join him We are sorry to have the John Augsburger family leaving our midst They have contributed so much to our community and will be deeply missed We wish them God speed in their new endeavors To ease our loss a new famithe Jerry Mitchells I ly has arrived know they have a darling little girl named Jenifer They are renting the Lynn Labrum home and it surely seems good to see lights on again Our sincere sympathy goes out to the Jim Carter family in the recent loss of his mother Zella Carter from Levan Utah I happened to have known her years ago She was a grand lady for Emily S Pikyavit Emily was a great lady and loved very much by her large posterity Emily raised Shirley from the time she was born because Shirley’s mother Ruth Soboqin died at child birth Ruth and Emily were sisters It was exciting to become acquainted with the daughter of a gal who went through nine grades of school in Kanosh with you Shirley has a very pleasant disposition as her mother Ruth had Family members and friends came from many different places including Mocassin AZ Blanding UT Towaco ID CO Sacramento Ca Kamiah Cedar City Moapa Las Vegas St George Salt Lake City Axtell UT and Richfield ‘Casey Peterson and his mother bus Sherry Paxton enjoyed a tour of the United States Sherry’s Chad and Betty Evans of parents Roosevelt UT were also on the tour Some of the places they enjoyed were Wasington DC Philadelphia New York City and New Pittsburg York State In Albany NY they had breakfast with Sherry’s brother Elder Troy Evans and Elder Jeff Christensen son of Bishop Dave and Gaye Christensen of Fillmore They had a great visit with these two fine missionaries In New York they attended the Hill Cumorah Pageant The Sacred Grove and the Joseph Smith home They enOhio joyed Niagara Falls Kirtland and Independence Missouri at Winter Quarters they were able to see Eshter and Chester Memmott from Scipio who are serving a mission at the visitors center This was a fun and special trip they will always remember ‘The Hyrum Prows and Arthur Howlett family reunions were held together at the Adelaide Park during the Aug weekend ‘All of the children of Rey and Ina Huber and most of the grandchildren gathered at the Kanosh City Park on to honor them on their Golden Aug Wedding The Hawaiian Luau dinner including the roast pig was enjoyed by all in attendance which was around 50 persons A Hawaiian family from Prothe splendid vo Utah provided program ‘The baby son of Tim and Cindy Turner was given a name and a father’s blessing at Sac meeting in Kanosh on Sunday August 2 Fine testimonies were borne one of which was given by former resident of Kanosh Merle Howlette Dowe Other former residents in attendance were her brother Newel Howlett and wife Iva Ada Smith and their Howlett They has been enjoying their family reunions at Adelaide Park ‘Guests at the home of Willard and Dathel Whitaker have been their son Jim wife Sharon and four children from Madison WI They have been visiting family and friends in Utah before leaving for the Netherlands where He has lived in Wells L Robison Deseret most of his life and everyone thought a lot of him He will surely be missed Funeral services were held Sat with burial in Deseret Cemetery Aug Get well wishes are sent to Clayton Palmer who is in the Utah Valley Medical Center at Provo Utah A baby boy arrived at the Delta Hospital to Kim and Terri Taylor July 18 weighing in at 9 lbs 12 oz This is for lla
