Delta traveled to Wasatch last week to wrestle in a tournament with most of the top teams in 2 3 and 4A cluding Brighton Box Elder and Pleasant Grove Delta finished a close second to Box Elder with Brighton taking third by a slim margin Final scores were Box Elder 195 Delta 194 Vi and Brighton Delta downs Millard graplers Last Thursday Millard and Delta squared off in what many considered a match between the top two squads in 2A Delta won with a score of Highlight of the match was Marshall Sheriff’s win over Searle Sheriff came from behind to beat Searle Another key match was at 119 as Eric Redd wrestled a tough match to earn a draw against last year’s state runner-uat 112 Stan Freeman The match started off well for Delta with Ben Eggleston pinning his man Dan Chamberlain and Rick Porter also pinned Colt Moody and Dusty Callister Sean Thomas won by falls John Thatcher had a draw Marshall Dave Porter and Mark Sheriff Western defeated their opponents Dathel Whitaker Ph Correction It was erroneously reportly in last week’s paper that Colt Moody was lost his wrestling match on points Colt won his match by pinning his opponent 88 Delta placed ten of the twelve wrestlers In Dusty Callister was third along with Dave Porter Delta girls roll up wins in tourney The Delta girls’ basket ball team took first in a tournament at Hurricane last weekend In the first game Delta defeated Manti by 22 points Top scorer was Jannette Larson with 22 points The top rebounder was Wendy with eight Delta stayed ahead the whole game The game against Hurricane was what one teammate referred to as “interesting” The girls won by three points Top scorer was Jannette Larson with 14 close behind was Missy Ford with 12 Jannette Larson received the MVP award for the tournament Wendy visiting together Mr Nathan and Ann Adams and 7 children came from Tempe AZ Mrs Phyllis Patterson and 5 children came from West Valley City Mr Cordell and Ruth Logan and 2 children of Riverton and Mr David Adams of Los Since Angeles and a girl friend Thanksgiving David Adams has moved to Seattle WA Mrs Elva Stone enjoyed a visit overnight with her son Rex and Lana Stone and 3 children last weekend They came from Cedar City and enjoyed a real good visit On Sunday her son Jay and 5 children came to visit and enjoy a nice time with the family also Elva Stone’s family enjoy their mother and spend some good times with her She enjoys her family very much too Mrs Melva Shields and daughter Joyce Moody traveled to Salt Lake on Thurs to attend funeral services for an old Delta friend Mrs Elton Miller (Jenny) Several Delta people friends and relatives from Delta were also attending the services After the funeral services Melva and Joyce did some shopping and had a nice visit with another daughter of Melva’s Mrs Ann Frampton Mrs Orvil Huff of Spanish Fork with in Delta on Thurs visited Georgia’s brother Mr Cameron and Norma Adams and Archie and Eddys Barben It was a very nice visit The Huffs have not visited in Delta for a long time Mr Lon and Lucille Wood enjoyed having most of their family home to spend Thanksgiving weekend and holiday with them Mr Lon Wood spent several days last week in the Utah Valley Hospital having some tests taken He is feeling better and at home again now Keep getting better Lon On Thurs Mrs Goldie Miller spent the day at the Provo Temple There are some very beautiful home and yard Christmas decorations this year in Delta Mrs Edwin Lyman their two Jane Johnson and Mary daughters Mrs George and Pamela Lyman along with Ruth and LeNore McCall just Hansen and returned from a trip stay in Hawaii They flew from the Salt Lake Airport on Dec 2 and returned home Dec 12 They spent most of the time on the islands of Kauai and Oahu and enjoyed the cultural experiences and the LDS Temple area The weather was beautiful and very good It was a very fun and enjoyable trip for all of them Recently Mr Steven and Marilyn Stoddard enjoyed a very exciting and fun 3000 mile trip They traveled to Canada where they visited in Victoria They attended the Worlds Fair Expo in Vancouver and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and places of interest along the way They visited in Oak Harbor on Whitley Island with their daughter Steven and Patricia Meyers and 4 children They attended the Seattle Temple and traveled down the beautiful Oregon coast and Fort Brag CA It was a fun trip they will never forget Mr Gregg Stoddard was married on Nov 15 to Miki Inglett of Centerville UT at the Ogden Country Club Mr Steven and Marilyn parents of Greg Band concert thrills audiences Students deck the hall SHUMWAY Thomas Sprunger Melisa Lyman and Heidi Holman Delta Middle School Fifth Grade students in the classes of William Dutson and Elden (Bud) Nielson undertook special art projects of decorating the large school Christmas tree in the foyer With a little imagination and some brillant red foil they created beautiful star ornaments Other decorations added a festive touch Mr and Mrs Eric Gillen donated the huge Christmas tree CODY KANOSH Over two hundred Delta Middle School band students performed their numbers at two programs just prior to Christmas holidays One performance was for the over 700 members of the student body and the other was for parents friends and other guests Eleanor Dalton comprincipal mented “The variety of musical periences our students have in the band program are invaluable Students have an excellent band instructor Greg Hexem and they are most appreciative of his talents and effort” Christmas music traditional and was featured by the contemporary three performing bands Beginning Band Cadet Band and Concert Band Band classes give the students the opportunity to participate in class every day in and Terrell family reunion Dec 20 at their home in Orem All family members were present except Steve A delicious dinner was served then games were played after which a meeting was held and plans were made for the next reunion in August Guy and Pearl Terrell spent Thanksgiving at the home of their Bill and Nila daughter and Hogan They stayed over and the next day They traveled to Evanston WY with Jed and Vilda Johnson to visit their daughter Kathleen and Richatd Knight and family The Knights are moving into a new home The next day UT and they went to Farmington visited Guy’s sister and husband with her sister Annette Heki leaving Kanosh 5 December and returning on December 14 with her husband Melvin and their sons Ben and Larry who went down to Vegas on December to attend the National Rodeo Annette had NV recently returned from Fallon where she helped out in the home of her daughter Shelley Whitaker who was the mother a Kristen of baby girl proud born on November 24 Proud father is John Whitaker Other happy grandparents besides Jerry and Annette Heki are Willard and Dathel Whitaker On Lorraine’s return home she visoited in Bunkerville with brothers Dan and Darnae Nielson and families thank those generous donaters and buyers Saturday December 13 1986 was a special day in the lives of the Kanosh Ward Young Women who traveled to Salt Lakek City They were escorted to the swanky Delta Fontana Restaurant for a seven course dinner which some of the could hardly handle From there they went to Temple Square to enjoy the many displays and thousands jof beautiful Christmas lights The pioneer Christmases An exciting part of the part was last but not least when Christmas gifts were exchanged and unwrapped This fun party was helped get the daughters into the spirit of Christmas Family members of the patients at the Fillmore Hospital enjoyed a lovely Christmas party with them on the the evening of December 17 They were seated at beautifully decorated tables The dining and recreation rooms were The patients very festive looking which helped make the decorations were on their Christmas tree A delicious dinner was served to the large in attendance Joining Phil group Turner at his table were his three Keith Bill and Vance and brothers their wives also his sister June Gorman and her husband It took two tables to seat the 22 family members of Juanita Charlesworth Each patient was happy to have the family members who came to join them and help make this a special occasion for them They all seemed so happy The gang all sang “Happy Birthday" to Phil Turner too The musical numbers presented in the program were very good Cathy Burns and Sandi Augsburger sang a duet accompanied by Flora Stewart Flora also accompanied a trio conBond Sharia sisting of Lynnette They were Starley and Jan Frampton decorated like little Christmas trees and sang “The Little Pine Tree” Their to the cond number was "Come Stable” Their voices blend beautifully The eyes of the children really grew big as Santa made his entrance with his jingle bells Each patient was given a lovely wrapped gift from his bag Then everyone else was handed a candy cane by Santa Thanks to the cooks kitchen help and others who worked so hard to make this very special for those we love Kanosh Primary officers teachers and their partners held their Christmas party at the Meadow Ward on Thursday December 18 Delicious clam chowder with scones was served followed by games Around 35 enjoyed this evening together Santa Claus is making an early visit and will be at the Kanosh Town Hall on Wednesday December 24 from noon until 3 pm to greet the Primary children Word was received from Nina Ahlstrom Johnson that her brother John Wendell Ahlstrom of Sutherland UT passed away on thursday December 18 at the Veterans’ Hospital Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 23 1986 at 11 am at the Sutherland Ward Nina told the reporter that there are only four of the fourteen Ahlstrom children yef alive They are Wendell’s twin brother Sheldon Vio Eva and Nina There have been around seven deaths in the Johnson and Ahlstrom families since her brother Harold Ahlstrom’s passing in August Dathel hadn’t heard of the death of one of her Kanosh pals Iuana Ahlstrom McPhee until she visited with Nina Luana passed away October 3 1986 Seems that everyone is trying to out do each other
