further conclude that he would be a good lobbyist for this group on both the state and national levels He is alert and committed to the people he services He also firmly believes that everyone should be aware ol the farmer’s plight “Farmers" says Bob “get the business They have to pay what is asked yet they must turn around and take is offered for their whatever crops “The costs of machinery ate high prices continue to rise yet farmers receive the same amount lor their crops that they were getting fifteen years ago To make matters worse banks are “kicking farmers when they are down" Despite the fact that farmers made business for the banks the latter appear to shy away from them Is the business not wanted? Why must a farmer pay ISo interest when everyone else gets a lower rate? According to Bob small family farms are needed yet everyone seems to be trying to do away with them at mers are good dependable people They enjoy what they are doing and the They work ensuing independence hard they pay their bills they strugno one gle to keep going Still guarantees anything for them With his understanding and beliefs it is not surprising that Bob Allred’s business priority is supply ing farmers When he picked up the Hesston line about a year and a half ago adding to the New Holland he expanded his ofnumber ferings to local farmeis-tone and number two lines in hay equipfor everything ment He also that he sells Machine companies now aware of the farmer's plight are working with equipment dealers like Bob in order for the latter to remain in business In the fall of 1972 Bob’s unde Bill Alldredge bought the business Irom Harold Done At that time it was based on New Holland Equipment and GMC trucks When Bill bought the business Bob went to work for him as the equipment salesman Together they worked until Bill decided that lie had He wanted out The had enough natural successor was Bob So he bought the business and “took over" That was two years ago December 1984 Owning one’s own business is not always what it is cracked up to be for there are long hours and tremendous emotional and financial commitments With a twinkle in his eye Bob says "I love the work only wish that there was a living in it!" The store is open from 8 am until 5 pm five days a week and from 8 am until noon on o her e aie Saturdays Then ol couixe trips back to the shop during the night when a farmer needs a part lot his machine Helping Bob all the wav has been his father Orin Mired Making a business go involves sellBob ing self and servicing people Allred is doing both Along with his Bob employs three fullequipment sei time mechanics to ensute vice Allred’s is also equipped with an expensive Allen diagnostic computet a little analvzer used cars trucks and western tack Due to the sufteung economy business “is hutting" Only one out ol every three companies oi stores stalled survive Bob Allred is bound and that his will be the "one" to make it He believes that by treating people fairly customers will want to return And he is convinced that one must hustle and woik in order to sucThis philosophy ceed apparently works lor Bob Despite the sufleimg economy he was operating in "the black” at the end of his fust year in business Having franchises means attending like the one week sales seminars seminar sponsored by New Holland for Bob it is essential to know vvhete the business is at all times In this way "lull downs” can be cot reded beloic they go too far A native of Deseiet Bob hasobseiv-echanges in Delta ovei the years with mixed emotions Initially he was opposed to IPP to the extent that he signed a petition against it Why couldn't life remain the way it was? Now he admits that IPP didn’t really hurt Delta In fact it brought good And the protect bought customers water ftont the faimets The (oi inula was simple: water equaled money in which turri equaled buying power Still Bob worries that when the watci supply diminishes the farmers arc the people who will suffer the most f arms will dry up When farms go Bob's business suiters hat changes would he like to sec around here? Actually Bob liked Della as it used to be when he knew everyone He now finds that it is necessary to look aiound for familiar faces It is important to progress rather than to fall behind Bob neither wants nor believes that a "boom” is needed here More What about the farmeis? dames would be good for the area 7 here needs to be a boost for farming W In not sell here what is produced? Use our own resources locally rather than always going out of the area for urther Bob Allred would like sales to see a local brokerage established for lai mers Perhaps then a permanent buyer or buyers would be secured Despite his business involvement Bob Allred is far from myopic Most important to him is his family -- his wife and three children He also owns and maintains a small 80 acre farm Then theie ate his duties and responsibilities as bishop for the Deseret Ward of the DS Church So many commitments leave viitually no time to pursue other interests such as hunting fishing and team roping As Bob says he is “involved to the max” right now Bob Allred is definitely an advocate lor the farmer He is also a businessman remaining and financially astute He refuses to oversell and he guarantees all that he does sell and service Most important he believes in his customers seeming to develop a mutual trust and admiraBob believes tion Ever an optimist that the economy will turn around He and the farmers just have to “hang in iheie" for the future will be brighter quantity Alcohol will remove the furniture from the home rugs from the floor food from the table lining from the vision from the eyes and stomach judgement from the mind Alcohol will remove good reputations good jobs good friends happiness from childrens’ hearts sanity freedom man’s ability to adjust and live with his fellow man and even life itself As a remover of things alcohol has no equal Author Unknown from “The No Booze News" Call Geno NW GEY QUITTING BUSINESS SALE CONTINUES ANNUAL PERCENTAGE RATE FINANCING" I Vi DBA(SC& Price Sale Winter Coats Hunting Boots Work Boots Flannel Shirts All Ladies’ Boots 2 v NEW 1986 CHRYSLER LeBARON Felt Hats SUPER SELECTION £ IMMEDIATE DELIVERY Jolley’s Western Wear r 111 East Main Delta 8644651 550 CHRYSLER'S PROTECTION PLAN See limited warranty at dealer Covers engine powertrain and against Restrictions apply EVERYTHING GOES THE WAY WE'RE DEALING SO HURRY IN NOW!
