Show Pg I MUM County Thurt June ISPS 12 I9M o 50th wedding LIBRARY NEWS By Caw anniversary Hunter UbrSritn Ben Carling Chief Kanosh Pageant Ben Carling Speech and Drama structor at Millard High School will take over as Artistic Director of the Chief Kanosh Pageant scheduled lor and 2 Board July 31 August members feel fortunate to have a person of his abilities to assume the responsibility of this performance when Norman I ister formerly announced as Director found he would not be able to fulfill the position The Board also announced the appointment of Pat Wasden of Scipio as Production Manager Well qualified Mrs Wasden will add strength to the staff with her enthusiasm and energy Mr Carling came to Fillmore last year just after graduation from BYU where he majored in Speech Communication Education Prior to serving a LDS mission in Argentina he attended Utah State University where he majored in Theater Arts He has ten years of acting experience in school community productions Most recently and Mr professional Carling has Talent show directed the highly successful Millard High School production of the musical ‘‘Carnival’’ and earlier in the year the play ‘‘Alaska" equally well done He is looking forward to lending his creative talents to developing this year’s Chief Kanosh Pageant into a fresh exciting experience for the cast and the audiences as well Mr Carling is married to the former Dona Larsen a Math major at BYU School who taught in the Jordan district before moving to Fillmore They have two little daughters Johanna two and Alana 6 months Pat Wasden and husband LaMar have lived the past four years in Scipio Both after moving front Farmington are employed in the area LaMar at Delta Auto and Pat divides her time between the 4th District Juvenile Court and Adult Probation They have a son Kevin who attends Millard High Her varied interests have found her working also in many church and activities such as Stake community Cultural Arts Little League a soccer coach and the Scipio Riding Club Arts in the Park The Annual East Millard Civic Arts Council Talent Show will be held in I illmore July 4 beginning at 7:30 pnt Make at the North Park Ampitheatre your entry by June 25 to Ilene Cooper Nadine Perkes or Edith C'allister You may enter in Junior (I to 15 years) or Senior (17 and up) divisions as a soloist or as a group performing in vocal instrumental dance and drama (skits pantomime etc) Time limit is about three minutes The admission charge of $100 for adults 50 cents for children or $200 per family will awarded to contestants in first place prizes Bring chairs and blankets for your family to sit on while enjoying the renditions of our local talented people Bill Wambsganss the Cleveland Ir unassisted triple play in World Set Please come and join the fun! review two books These are: "Raisin in the Sun” and “The Glass The part'cipants read the Menagerie” books ahead (furnished by Utah Endowment of Humanities) then meet together and discuss the import of busy week attending her granddaughters graduation and a blessing On Friday June 6 she drove to Tooele where that evening she attended the graduation of her granddaughter Tami Brunson from Tooele High School Tami is the daughter of Shirley and Vern Brunson On Tuesday June 3 Elaine drove to Cedar City where she attended the graduation of her twin granddaughters Tina and from Cedar High Laurie Goddard School that same evening They are the daughters of Jim and Connie Goddard of Cedar City Going back a few days June I Elaine went to on Sunday Monroe to attend the blessing of her Jessica Mae Goddard granddaughter She is the daughter of Ralph and LinLittle Jessica Mae has a da Goddard and two brothers Sarrah sister Christopher and Adam On Sunday June 8 Paul and Beverof Richfield and their ly Groesbeck Karen wife of Dr Michael Groesbeck of Torrence Ca and their 2 children Heather and Jarred came to Fillmore and spent the day visiting with Beverly’ parents Dean The children of Ray and Mildred Greenlalgh: David I aul JoLene and Debbi will honor their parents at an open house for their Golden Wedding June 21 Anniversary on Saturday 1986 at the Bonneville Stake Center 85 South 900 East in Provo from 6 to 8 pm They extend a cordial invitation to friends and relatives to join with them on this joyous occasion They quest no gifts The couple were married in Manti Temple on May 6 1936 but because of the schools not being out in May in Kansas and Seattle they are Calif celebrating this event in June so the grandchildren can attend They have 17 and 2 great grandgrandchildren children of whom they are very proud of and who have brought much joy and happiness into their lives During their married life Ray and Mildred have lived in Nephi where they were both born and raised in Logan Altamont Fillmore Montana and in Provo since 1956 After Ray retired form Geneva Steel in 1978 they were called to serve a LDS Mission at South Dakota which they did and enjoyed it very much Ray graduated from USAC in Logan and has taught school at Mt Emmons (Duchesne Co) and Fillmore Utah and was manager of a Farmer’s at Missoula MT then moved to Provo so their children could attend the “Y” Stinson on honor roll Gary Thomas Stinson son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Stinson of Fillmore is one of 648 Abilene Christian University students listed on the Dean’s Honor Roll for the spring 1986 semester To be listed on the honor roll a student must be enrolled for a grade in at least 12 semester hours earn at least a 345 grade point average or higher Try out dates Sam Starley Pageant Chairman together with other board members met with Mr Carling and Mrs Wasden on June 6 to complete other appointments and set up tryout dates of June 13 and 14 at the Millard High School Auditorium audition for solo singing parts should arrive prepared to sing a short segment of any song they wish Accompaniment will not be provided however Rehearsals begin with a meeting of the entire cast staff and crew at 5 pm Tuesday June 17 Participants should indicate if they have been involved with the pageant previously and which part Further instructions will be available on an instruction sheet at there with beautiful potted plants and flower arThey also visited at the rangements homes of Millie’s brothers Gene McBride and his wife Lillian nd Paul McBride They also visited Millie’s niece Barbara Reese where they enjoyed refreshments of cake and ice cream Other members of the family visiting in Fillmore were Jack and Sue Anne Chruma and family of American Fork a Kenny and Ginger Pierce of Dorothy and Clark Paxton in Kanosh were here brother Shirl Kimball and wife Betty of Huntington Beach CA Carl and Loueda Blad spent the first week of June in Pocatello ID where they went to attend the high school graduation of a grandson Brian Blad who graduated from Highland High While staying with their son Merlin and family in Pocatello they tended several parties and spent a day fishing with great success Another joyable part of their trip was to attend a talent show in which two of their Elaine and Felecia granddaughters Blad were participants Carl and Loueda also spent some time visiting the temple grounds at Idaho Falls They left Pocatello on Friday June 6 drove to Salt Lake City where they spent the night with another son Kent and family before returning home to Kanosh on Saturday reporting that they had a very enjoyable week but we’re glad to be back home The May Cub Scout Pack Meeting and bicycle rodeo was held June 7 at the City Park The new Cubmaster Sharon Blad welcomed the boys and their parents The Flag Ceremony was presented by the Bear Den Each boy’s bicycle was inspected and checked for safety If the bike passed inspection each boy was presented a sticker for their bike They boys then took their bikes over to the ball field and competed in different relays and races First place ribbons and suckers were presented to those taking first place in the different races All participants were treated with bubble gum and tootsie rolls These activities concluded at 6 pm From 6 to 8 pm the Boy Scouts began their fundraising project of serving delicious hamburger dinners with lots of salads and all the trimmings Four hundred were served 50 of which were home deliveries Calvin Kesler was in charge of this big affair and had lots of good homes of Carolyn Winterrose Alice Christensen and Nina Black The family met 2 evenings and one morning at the lovely Kanosh Park and Pavilion for eating and games and a program All 18 members of Judy and (the late) Morgan Young’s family were here from Arizona Father Rigby and Hazel were here from Austin NV The late Aldine’s family came from Salt Lake Carolyn’s family came from Salt Lake and St George All of Alice’s and Vernon’s family were here during all or part of the time George and family came from Sierra Vista AZ Marlys and family came from Boise ID and Cliss’ family drove over from
