Show Pge Millard County 6 DSPS Thun Jan 1986 9 Senior Citizens will miss Tommy and his thoughtful ways Jake T Christensen Celebrates First Birthday Jake T Christensen celebrated his first birthday on December 19 1985 Jake's sisters Ginger and Marnic and brother Judd helped him celebrate Jake is the son of Richard and Jill Christensen Jake’s grandparents arc Maughn and Bonnie Christensen of Holden and Bill and Arlene T urner of Kanosh Beste decorated Air Force Maj Donald E Beste son of Margaret Davidson of West Valley Utah and stepson of Pattie Beste of Windsor CA has been decorated with the Defense Meritorious Service Medal at Sheppard Air Force Base Texas Service The Defense Meritorious Medal is awarded to individuals for meritorious achievement or service that is incontestably exceptional and of a magnitude that clearly places them above their peers Beste is chief of the Administration Division with the School of Health Care Sciences His wife Mary is the daughter of L Wilbur and 11a Row ley of Meadow UT The major received a master’s degree in 1970 from Washington University St Louis New Rooki on Pres illmore Fortunately the library has been able to purchase new books on President Millard Fillmore We have two new books and two pamphlcts-oof which was a summary of his early life written by himself when he was at the request of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical He scaled the document with the Society instruction that it not be opened until after his death Upon his death in 1874 the Society opened the package and added it to the work aboui the that formed a large division of their holdings One of the new books "The Lady and the President" by Charles M Snyder of Mifflinhurg Pa is based on a most unusual ‘find’ While Professor Snyder was teaching in the state of New York he purchased a trunk at an auction which happened to contain letters from Millard Fillmore to a family friend Dorthca Dix Miss Dix was a crusader extraordinare working for the benefit of veterans who were afflicted with insanity She was building hospitals and trying for land grants throughout the whole US She was a woman of great education who traveled extensively both in the US and in Europe and the British Isles The book is well organized and interesting covering her lifetime from 1800 to 1887 It’s actually her story but is interlaced with the lives of Millard Fillmore and many other leaders during the 19th century “Millard Fillmore Biography of a President” by Robert J Rayback seems to be the backbone on which most other rillmorc books depend at least those written after his was published in 1959 (reprinted in 1974) His initial research was to have been a history of the Whig Political Party but he got after he began finding interesting items about Millard Fillmore and wrote the The book was biography instead published by the Buffalo Historical Society The above books will be available to the public at our library by Jan 9 if you are interested It would be wise to call in your name for the reserved list you in the Library I?
