DSCSA Chief Justice Lacy Culpepper, a sophomore English major from Clinton, said the goal is to get at least 2,000 votes. She said online voting will be available to students Feb. 27 through PODCAST Q March 1, but the voting will be limited to the hours between 7 am. and 7 p.m., and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the last day of voting. Online voting for students who were off campus was something that was tried last year, but Culpepper said this is the first year DSC will have open online voting for all students. DSCSA is limiting the voting in order to gauge its effec SLIDESHOW tiveness. Jordon Sharp, director of student involvement and leadership, said limited voting would be implemented in order to control voting groups. He said a main reason times will be limited is in order to prevent candidates from getting large groups of people to vote at one time. He said candidates can go to dorms to get votes, but they will have to go after voting has S VIDEO Q ONLINE closed. This year, being the first year, we wanted to just limit it a little bit (and) see how it goes see what issues come up, he said. Sharp said he hopes the ease of access will result in a higher voter turnout this year. Culpeper said this will be a test year, and if the online voting works well, see CHANGES page 3 DISCUSSION |
