Italian Scaldoni's Gourmet Grocer and Grill has received several awards, including Best Dining in Dixie from Salt Lake magazine and 1996 Entrepreneur of the Year from the Saint George Chamber of Commerce. With friendly staff and a unique menu, Scaldoni's is the place for a romantic Valentine's dinner for two. the can-dle-l- it Scaldoni's is offering a few specials for your romantic Valentine's dinner They plan to serve prime rib, and roses will be given with special desserts. "There's not really anywhere else you can go where you can feel like you've eaten at a said fancy restaurant," Rebecca DeVito, hostess at Scaldoni's. And she was right. We were seated in minutes at a table outfitted with folded cloth napkins and a burning candle. Water was brought to us in large goblets with a lemon wheel drifting aimlessly within the ice cubes. The wicker chairs were comfortable and Ilalian music wafted softly throughout the restaurant. Lanterns decorated the walls and green plants hung from the ceiling. looked longingly at the outside seating area and wished the weather werent so chilly. 1 stomach was growling I looked over the menu and was impressed with the variety of dishes. My eyes went first to the appetizers, and the Crispy Peanut Chicken Strips served with peanut sauce almost jumped out at me. I thought to myself, 'Chicken strips in a fancy Italian Served with restaurant? Thai (isn't that Asian) dressing?' When the waiter came to take our order, asked for the chicken strips and My hungrily, so 1 Vanilla Italian soda. Looking for a quiet, romantic place to share your Valentine meal? Scaldoni's Italian Restaurant is located in the Phoenix Plaza just off Sunset Boulevard. Fresh bread arrived with the Italian soda. The bread was still warm inside, and I generously spread garlic butter over it. The Italian soda looked like milk with whipped cream on top. I stirred and drank. It was good: sweet and carbonated. It consisted of vanilla flavor- ing syrup, club soda, and whipped cream. At half-&-ha- lf thought it was a bit strange and set it aside. But after a minute, I wanted more and drank generously. first, I Our appetizer made it's way to our table shortly after we finished our bread. The chicken was cut into thm strips, and it's crispy outside shined like it had honey drizzled over it. It came with two dipping sauces, Thai Peanut and Sweet Thai Chile. I dipped my first strip into the Sweet Thai Chile sauce, and was greatly pleased by the delicately crispy, slightly sweet and spicy flavor that mixed on my tongue. delicious!
