Contrary to popular belief it is not Will my hair clash with that red gown?, but rather Will my credits all transfer to the college of my choice? The biggest myth that continues to be perpetuated at Dixie College is that your college credits wont transfer! As a transfer advisor, Jonathan Morrell, director of Student Support Services, sees students on a daily basis with the same question, Someone told me that my Dixie College credits wont transfer, is that right? He always asks who that someone is and no one seems to know, but the myth continues year after year. Morrell feels it is time to put the transferring myth to rest. Regarding credits, they will transfer under two conditions: if the student completes an Associate of Arts or Science degree, or if a student transfers before completing their Dixie College Associate Degree, then credit for courses numbered 100 and above is generally transferable. Those students who have completed their Associate of Arts or Science can then transfer to any other state institution and will be considered as having completed that schools general education requirements and will be a junior. Students who transfer before, may take the risk that their credits may or may not apply to department, college, and university requirements. The credits you earn at Dixie may count, but perhaps only as elective credits. Credits are compared by the nature, content, and level offered by the transfer institution as compared to those of the institution being transferred to. Grades less than a C- - are not transferable and transcripts of credit must accompany your application of admission from all previously attended institutions. four-ye- ar O T'V Another aspect of transferring includes that of financial aid. Scholarships are available to transfer students who have applied themselves either academically on through achievements in specific areas of interest. Academic, achievement, and departmental scholarship applications vary, as do deadlines and auditions, so personal contact will need to be established to determine a timeline and the proper avenue of application. The best, and easiest way to transfer, is to plan ahead. Five easy steps to keep in mind are: Select a major field of study, obtain a catajrj IVV and major requirement sheet, after selecting a major contact the college department that teaches that may plan to transfer as soon as you havi completed all the course work, anj check the grade point average (GP.: requirements. The best information abc. how credit, or financial assistance, transfer can be obtained by keeping contact with advisors in your may and, if you still have questions, ti v.
