The combination of the two days at the same time is a rare occasion. When superstition is mentioned, most think of walking under a ladder, knocking on wood, or stepping on sidewalk cracks. On the other hand, Valentines Day is more for those love-sic- k couples that want to celebrate being together. In honor of the rare pairing of these two special and horrible days, heres some unconventional superstitions associated with love. Never eat onions on Saturday night or you will not see your lover on Sunday. The dropping of a dish rag is a sign that your lover will come. Its the day dreaded by superstitious people around the world... Friday the 13th. According to an article in the Salt Lake Tribune on Sept., 11, 1996, the tradition of Friday 13th dates back all the way to Greek and Norse mythology. Friday was named for Frigga, the goddess of clouds and sky, married love, fertility and housewives. When the Norse and Germanic tribes converted to Christianity, Frigga was banished to a mountaintop and labeled a witch.
