THE DIXIE SUN College He talked about the partnership Dixie has with the Community Education Channel Aselect few of Dixie College administration and faculty got to have the chance to go to to the Thirteenth Atlanta, GA an Oct Annual Conference on Information Technology Each professor or faculty member got to present on certain subjects. Besides just presenting, the conference allowed them to go to presentations they thought were the most interesting, see new technology from various businesses, and listen to keynote speakers. The purpose of the conference was to help faculty and administration to learn about using technology in teaching. The Dixie faculty that went were Stan Hewe, vioe president; David Fellei; assistant professor; Scott Allen, title HI organizer, Ron Woodland, assistant professor, Demaree Johnson, assistant professor, Donald Hinton, professor; Scott Allen, instructional technology specialist; and Eric Pedersen, assistant professor. Allen talked to faculty and helped them to prepare their presentations. Hewe did a presentation entitled Model Programs and Partnerships on a Community Education TV Channel Funded by a College; community, business partnership in Southwestern 12-1- (KWC-TV- ). Feller, Allen, and Woodland did a presentation on Faculty Development of an Interactive Learning Tbol Using Director. The presentation demonstrated an interactive chemistry-reactio- n learning tod that can be used both inside and outside the dassroam. Important principles in developing an interactive multimedia project were also interesting to them. Pedersen enjoyed the keynote address Macro Media gave on software tods far digital media creation Pedersen and publishing. thought it was a nice conference. I think it gave Dixie College some nioe exposure, he said. Hewe said their were new things and new technology and that they could also learn from the mistakes of other schools. Dixie is right at the top. he said. Hewe said there were many schods larger than Dixie who had smaller oomputer labs. Johnson and Hinton gave ideas for focusing techndogys power to assist in directing administrations own creative resources to communicate difficult scientific and artistic concepts in education. Allen did a presentation on Web Pages for Dummies. This presentation was very popular; attracting over a hundred people. The workshop showed how several web page creation tods could allow beginners to create web pages without HTML coding. Woodland and Pedersen did a presentation on Production and Application of Quicklime Virtual Reality.
