This year is the first year for the Dixie College Association of Mens students to hold Mens Week, and we said hope to make it a tradition, Mike Tholen, this years AMS presi- dent. Founders Day upcoming Lambda Delta Sigma has been busy the last couple of weeks planning for the upcoming Founders Day. Lambda Delt plans a big banquet and chooses an elect lady to honor. The Inter Chapter officers choose a lady out of the community who best represents the values that Lambda Delta is based on. The banquet is being held next Wed. Feburary 18 at 5:45 p.m. The name of the woman who is being honored is kept a secret until the night of the banquet, so if you would like to know who she is you should plan on attending. If you are a member of Lambda Delta Sigma you are invited to the banquet and the cost of the dinner will come out of your dues. For more information an attending the banquet contact your chapter advisor. Taylor counsels D.C. students It you are a student at Dixie and you have been into the counseling center to talk about a problem or discuss your schedule, you know that Collene Taylor is the first person you talk to. She is the secretary at Dixies Counseling Center. Collene calls herself the contact person because she is the person all students talk to first about their problems. She listens carefully to each person she talks with and then refers them to a counselor who is best suited to deal with each particular problem. counselor herself, Collene is a great listener and can work out many problems students have together with each individual. Nobody leaves here without feeling better. Taylor said. She will see to that personally. Collene fails to stay Although not a unattached to the students she helps. She know every face and every problem which comes her way. Taylor said that there is not much change or increase in problems now that springtime is upon us. She still deals with many of the same problems every day. is a week's worth gym, where opponents will battle for the championship. The entry fee for the tournament is $3. Thursday night, the boxing match will take place in the convention hall of the new Dixie Center. For those w ho want to be challenged in the ring, they were to sign up and pay a fee of $5 by February 13 (today). Friday night, everyone is invited and encouraged to attend the home basketball game and cheer the Rebels onto ictory. After the game, AMS is sponsoring a 50s style dance in the gym. Admission is $2 per couple or $1 if dressed 50s style. This fun filled week will come to a close with a big ski party at Brianhead. Everyone from Dixie is invited to sign up and spend their Saturday in the snow and mountains. The cost is only $20, which includes a bus ride to and of ac- tivities consisting of fun sports and excruciating competitions to convene February 22nd through 28th. The week will kick off Monday with a croquet tournament which will last throughout the rest of the week. The competitors will be those who sign up with a date of their choice to compete against other couples. The cost is only $1 per couple. This could be the chance to k that special someone out for a fun filled week for just a small fortune. Tuesday and Wednesday evenings will be the wrestling tournament in the basketball game. Those who are participating in the Mens Week activities, were to sign up by today, February 13th and pay their fee at Sallie Coopers desk or the Student Executive room with Mike Tholen. Everyone who is not participating is invited to come and watch and cheer on the contestants in the competitions. Also, help support Mens Week by and purchasing Mens Week are $10 and sweatshirts. Tee-shirsweatshirts are $18. The money from selling shirts will be going towards AMS and to help build the new Student Center. Dixie College, get set to start the Family Feud 7 Richard Dawson of Remember g Family Feud fame and those battles between the average American families? Well it seems Dixie College is cashing in on the one-tim- e TV favorite and will conduct their own version of the game next Wednesday, February 18, at the new Convention Hall. Like the original game, participants from the studentbody will gather into groups of Five consisting of various family relatives and will engage with an opposing team in five rounds of competition. A list of survey questions will be used ih the game and points obtained will be determined by each correct answer and the number of points accompanied with it. The winning family with the most points at the end of all the games will receive some type of award of great human value. Interested kinfolk may apply at the Student Activities desk anytime before next Wednesday. Those who wish to only view the event will be charged a five dollar fee, tax free. Proceeds will be used to supply the winning family with gifts and prizes. |
