Show Annie February 14,1986 DIXIE SUN Page Features Repertory Theatre Actor and Actress Mothers Weekend Several veteran performers star in Dixie College Theatres production of Annie which plays February 11 through 15 and 17, in the Dixie College Fine Arts Theatre. Jon Stout, who performed in Pioneer Courthouse Players Repertory Theatre for two seasons, and Teresa Springer, who also has experience in several years of repertory theatre, play opposing roles as hero and villainess in little Annies life. Jon plays Oliver Warbucks, who comes Hard-Knoc- k into Orphan Annies Life and offers to adopt her. Teresa plays Miss Hannigan, the supervisor of the AWS sponsors a whole weekend full of exciting events for all the women students at Dixie Teresa Springer, as Miss Hamgan, tries to get Janalyn Staheli, who plays Annie" to buckle down and be responsible. There are many activities to share together, so set aside the weekend of April 25 for a memorable time with your moms. New Picnic Tables in Bruhn Grove? Has anyone noticed whats been happening at Bruhn Grove? The Dixie College WomensAssociation has been hard at work. Where there was just grass and trees betoie, there are benches, garbage containers, and 32 more trees have been planted there which cost $1200. The Chairperson of the Dixie College Womens Association this year is Susan Payne, teacher here who is a part-tim- e at Dixie. Mrs. Payne stated there will be a plaque, similar to the one by the tennis courts, placed there. They are also planning to put in picnic tables, but there is much controversy on this subject. The Womens Association isnt sure if there will be picnic tables or not. Some dont like the idea of turning Bruhn Grove into a picnic area, and others think it will be an asset. Auditions were recently held during the second week of January and many students turned out in hopes of being cast in this fresh and effervescent theatre production. The results were finalized and the following students were selected as cast members. Darrin Wheaton, veteran Dixie College and Pioneer Courthouse Players actor, who played Mortimer Brewster in the recent - production of Arsenic and Old Lace portrays Murray Burns, a bachelor who is forced to become a substitute father. cont. on page 10. |
