Ask Me Week Prfessors update learning Concludes Science Teachers Enter Computer Age by Chris by Cindy Penrod Were there some of you out there on the Dixie College campus wondering why there was so many Ask Me signs all over the campus, and why several students were wearing stickers that said Ask Me? Well, the answer is, the missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints put on a week-lonprogram that was designed to help members of the Mormon Church become more aware of the importance of missionary work. Curiosity of the non Mormons was aroused and many students were asking questions about the Mormon g y Church. The headquarters for the program was at the LDS Institute, and there two Mormon representatives of the Church had pamphlets and films about the Church and the people. According to the missionaries, this program was not set up to just baptize people, will but so that the week-lon- g know what the Mormons believe, since this is a Mormon area. They are willing to teach all people who have a desire to be taught, or even members who still want to learn. Elder Lee and Elder Wolters said, This program turned out to be a pretty good success, and we answered many questions. This program also made the members more aware of their responsibilities of every member a missionary. Basically, Ask Me Week was set up to give the members a chance to bring up the gospel in their everyday discussions. Most likely, we will get some more missionary programs set up during the remainder of the school year to help out the missionary program here at Dixie College. Some good ways to do missionary work, according to the Elders, is to invite the missionaries to college functions, dinners, and activities, and to invite your friends to the Temple Visitor Center. The pamphlets that were available to the students were : The Word of Wisdom, The Prophet Joseph Smiths Testimony, Witnesses of the Book of Mormon, The Lords Day, The Purpose of the Temple, What the Mormons think of Christ, Plan of Salvation, Christ in America, Why Stay Morally Clean, and The Church As Organized by Jesus Christ. If anyone is interested in reading this material, then make a visit to the Institute, and take all the pamphlets you wish to read. The missionaries are here to serve you, so if you are interested in the Mormon Church or if you just have a question about the Churchs teachings, then contact Elder Lee and Elder Wolter by phoning Remember what A. Theodore Tutde, a general authority of the church once said, The basic responsibility for missionary work in the church lies with the members, not the missionaries. May we do our part in the way it should be done. 673-601- Wyatt Faculty members of the Dixie College Science Department returned to the classroom recently as students to learn a science few of them had ever studied - computer science. Oh, theyre excited, he said, as they become aware of the tremendous advantages and benefits of the program. Could it be likened to moving out of the dark ages and into modern daylight? Now youre getting the idea, he said. ANY TIME YOU FEEL HUNGRY....
