Show Page 8, DIXIE SUN January 28, 1983 Fare Well Retnel Hoopsteirs Lady Rebels averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds a game. The Lady Rebels notched their first conference victory in a big way last Saturday in St. George when they breezed past Utah Technical Behind the College in Provo, shooting of Pam Roberts, Dixie took a halftime lead. Ten of her 16 total points came in the first half. The Rebels then came out hot in the second half, and UTCP never challenged. Dixies Carri Green led all scorers with 20 points, and also pulled down 12 rebounds. Michelle Grotting followed in rebounds with 10, and scored 11 points. Perhaps the best effort of the game, however, came has The Lady Rebels traveled east two weeks ago for a pair ol games with the College of Eastern Utah and Colorado Northwestern Community College. At CNCC, Dixie was never really in the game, and their only bright spot was a 1 7 point effort by Meridee Syme. The only other Rebel to score in double figures was Pam Roberts with 12 points. According to coach Rosemary Labrum, the most consistent performance this year has come from forward Michelle Grotting, a freshman from Eureka, California. After defeating BYU JV last Thursday, the Rebels came back two nights later and battered UTCP. Against BYU, the Rebels started out slow, falling behind at the beginning of the game. Dixies biggest lead in the first half was 10 with 7.07 to go. Most students at Dixie are your every day run of the mill individuals who really care less if heshe can make remarkable moves on the basketball floor or with their favorite member of the opposite sex. This is where Dixies Intramural program comes in. For the guys throughout the years they have flag football, basketball, and softball. The girls can choose from volleyball and softball. Its all for fun. Sure, everyone wants to win, but in intramural winning is only a percentage of the benefits from the activities. You have an opportunity to participate in a sport that you may or may not be so talented, but youre just looking for some fun. Its a chance to get your mind off of studies. 1 -- 1-- Athlete of the Week receives from Meridee Syme, who scored 17 points for the second week in a row, and dished out nine assists. The girls conference record now with their next game stands at Fun For In intramural basketball up to January 19, the Box Lunches and 1-- Steve Hodson, an assistant basketball coach for Dixie, is this weeks Burger King athlete of the Week. There will be a big showdown in Ephraim as the Rebels face Snow in College, who like Dixie is IMAC play.
