Show Page 4, DIXIE SUN January 28, 1983 Annie Get Your Gun Features BYU Ballroom Dance Company to Perform Vaudeville Setting From the shimmer of sequine gowns to the swing of petticoats and bobby socks, the Brigham Young University Ballroom Dance Company will enchant audiences with an exciting evening of dance Thursday, February 3, at 8 00. p m in the Dixie College Gymp-siumI he performance is part of the groups 1983 winter tour From Feb. 4 13, the dancers will travel through Nevada. Arizona, New Mexico and California giving dance workshops and evening performances. Under the direction of Lee Wakefield, the companys superbly choreographed spectacular will include every'hing from waltz to hustle, Charleston to cha cha. The group will also perform Latin American, international and modern ballroom dances as well as numbers choreographed to currently popular music. When most people think of Dixie College Musical Theatres production of ANNIE, GET YOUR GUN, which will presented musical, the stage will feature a false proscenium and entries downstage through curtained and fringed arches reminiscent of those in Victorian playhouses. This basic framework for the play will make the audience aware that they are watching a play in which realism is not the major consideration ballroom dance, they think formal, said Wakefield. Each major actor is costumed authentically in terms of period, but the show concept is retained in color and detail. An unusual feature of the costuming is that the chorus members costume is an individual design for that actor only.
