There were also more spectators (the largest audience) at this years contest than in years past. .A Man For All Seasons of an evening of entertainment exceptionally high in dramatic quality. The plot centers around King Henry the Eighth and his desire to obtain a divorce from his first wife Catherine Anne so he can marry Boleyn. The Scheme is passively resisted by Sir Thomas More, a man of great moral conscience and resolve, who does everything in his power to stay true to his beliefs and save his neck. The part of Sir Thomas was masterfully portrayed by Mr. Turner. Jonathan Turner holds a reputation in the St. George area of being a very gifted actor and is highly respected by all those who have seen him perform. Although his apprearance is brief, Jeff Buttars did justice to the proud and noble character of King Henry. Kevin Briggs will long be remembered for his slightly comic portrayal of Master Richard Rick who rises from relative obscurity in the first act to near prominence at the end when he struts across the stage like the best dressed lady in the Easter parade to betray his friend Sir Thomas. Other memorable performances were rendered by Michael Henrie as the Duke of Norfork, Douglas Johnson as Thomas Cromwell, Hansen as Lady Alice More and who could forget the many faces of the common man, Kervin Gordon. All other members of the cast did a superb job also; unfortunately, they are too numerous to mention here. Although individual performances were good, I was especially impressed with the unity an t rhythm produced by the group as a whole, a phenomenon rarely achieved to such a high level in theatre. Potential patrons of the play should be forwarned: the plot moves rather slowly. I certainly would not recommend it to young Jan-nett- an here th the i ent who f "f children; however, most any college student with a reasonably lenghthy attention span should find the experience rich and rewarding. A special note of thanks to director Burke Belnap and everyone else on the crew for the time and effort involved in bringing to the school and the community this fine example of dramatic excellence so often attained here at Dixie College.
