Every year it is sponsored by the AWS. The story is that once a year the hillbillys set a day aside so that every girl can chase after the man of her choice. If she catches her man, then hemust marry her. Every Sunday since 1943 Daisy Mae has been chasing Lil Abner in the famous comic strip Lil Abner. On November 13th, 1977 the creator of Lil Abner, A1 retired from his Capp, famous comic strip. He takes with him the gentle Shmoos, bold, bosomy Daisy Mae and pipe smoking Mammy So, this year, Daisy Mae has caught her man for the last time. But the tradition must go on. Every unmarried Daisy Mae has set her trap for her Lil Abner. So beware guys for the chase might be long and dangerous; but the rewards are ooh so nice ... The r performance will feature a series of mime works, both comic and dramatic in nature, from the repertoire of the company. Cost for the event will be ?3.00 or Series card. The Oregon Mime Theatre is in the area as part of a 114 day residency sponsored by Southwest Series, Utah Rural Arts Consortium and the National Endowment for the Arts. Touring throughout the nation, the company s residency here is part of a full yearly calendar that this season will take the company into 36 American cities. He now directs and performs exclusively with the company. Elizabeth Page and Burl Ross form the balance of the Oregon Mime Theatre. One special achievement of this team is the widely-knowChildrens Performance, which alone appears before 60,000 school children each year. n The schedule for Winter Quarter registration and academic advisement was released this week by Vern Thomas, college registrar. Class work for Winter Quarter will begin Tuesday, January 3rd, 1978 with registration starting Monday, November 21, 1977 and continuing through Monday, January 9, 1978. Students may obtain registration cards and class schedules at the Registrars office beginning Monday, November 21, 1978. The signature of an academic advisor will be required on the registration cards before they are returned to the D.C. Security News violations. Students with any violations should contact the Security office and fight their case, or pay the fine at the cashiers office at the Building. The English department advises that all students planning to enroll in English 101 winter quarter will be required to pass Written English Expression Examination. The test will be given each weekday afternoon at 2.00 p.m. and again at 3.00 p.m. in LA 111 beginning the 21st of November. Dixie College Choir Present Thanksgiving Concert The Dixie College Concert Choir and Chamber Choir will present a Thanksgiving Choral Concert Monday evening, November 21, in the Dixie College Fine Arts Center Auditorium. According to Choir President, Arlen Wilcock, the 70 member Concert Choir and 18 member Chamber group will present a variety of numbers ranging from classical to novelty songs, to delight the entire family. The concert, which begins at 8.00 p.m., will include the contemporary Song of the Dove spiritual, Oh How Lovely Was the Morning and an uplifting version of the traditional America. The novelty song, One Candy Wrapper in the Street," will be enjoyed by all age groups. In addition to these tunes a number of other fine renditions will be presented. Tickets for the concert will be available at the door at $1.00 for adults, or $5.00 per family and $ .50 for students. All proceeds will be used to help finance the activities of the choral groups including the annual Spring tour to Southern California. Tickets will also be sold by choir members within the community, and residents are encouraged to support the group. |
