By John Edgar Hoover You, the college student, whether or not you realize it, are the rich earth which the Communist conspirator hopes to till. Your mind is the soil in which he hopes to implant alien seed. Your subsequent acts are the products whose growth he strives to direct. The harvest which he seeks is the destruction of our democratic processes of government. Harold R. And outer darkness (3.5 and down) (?) Such a rigid division is not compatible with the prevalent church of many degrees. Students who receive a B or possibly a C in one, two, three, perhaps greater hour classes, still have superior averages, as high as 3.95. Included in this group are such classes as English and physical education. If a distinction between honor roll and high honor roll is desirable, a more workable and equitable plan should be adoptI . This new average could also serve as the minimum for high honor graduation. I am not sure of the present minimum for this, but I think that it has been as low as 3.7. Setting such a minimum would have the value of being an incentive. I 4.0 I think that 3.75 is fair for this at a junior college. But I also think that honors should be given to all graduates with a total grade point average above 3.5. (Though it is a slightly different situation, the University of Utah grants scholastic honors to all graduates with an average above 3.15.) Even if this new recognition is only an asterisk on the graduation program, it should be given to the segment of our graduates who earn good marks. This segment may comprise as much as 20 per cent of the graduates, but to me these would be worthwhile changes. Larrie Larson Larrie, If you will note the honor roll for the first semester of high school, you will recognize that your wanted revision has become a reality. This will hold true for college Mrs. Hardy also. "TREL & COTTON SLACKS -- 2 East Tabernacle OR You for and Yours Especially Guess Coming March 24? birth-righ- short-sighte- .
