Show The Dixie Owl, St, George, Utah ' 17 ATHLETICS On the morning of Dec. 18, our basket ball boys, filled with, that lively team spirit and with a determination to bring victory back to Dixie with them, left for the north on their basket ball trip. On their arrival at Parowan, they played a rousing good game with the P, H. S. The game, however, was not much of a task for the blues ; their activi- ty so far exceeded that of their opponents, that they were able to score them 51-2- 1, On the night of Dec. 19, the Dixie team and the Mur- dock academy boys played a practice game at Beaver. We were beaten by the Murdock team, but we intend, when we meet them on our own floor, to reverse this score and win the game for Dixie. On the eve of Dec. 29, the best game of the year was played between the Bunkerville High School and Dixie. If you were not present, you do not yet know what Dixie can do. At the end of the first half everybody was in a state of excitement wondering whether Dixie was going to win or not. Bunkerville had us beat by six points and were playing the game strongly. However this feeling of fear soon left us during the second half. The Blues, realizing that Bunkerville had defeated Dixie once before, and feeling it too hard to take defeat again, tore into the game for all that was in them. The score shifted, and Bunkerville lost in the fight, Dixie winning the game by nine points. Now just a word to the team. Boys, were certainly proud of you when you wear those blue sweaters, and were thrilled with joy to know that you are striving to win for us. Just keep your pep up, never slack a moment, and remember that wherever you are, when youre working clean and strong for Dixie, shes backing you. If the devil lost his tail where would he go to get To a liquor house where they retail spirits. |
