Show The Dixie Owl, St. George, Utah 11 and they have given us the means whereby we can live in perfect peace and happiness. When we think of these things is should be an inspiration to us to strengthen our faith. Could a religion for which people would die, for which they would suffer all that human beings can suffer, be anything but a religion sent from God? We should not for one moment lose our faith in the Giver of these blessings. Thus, because of our countless instances in history of what a strong faith in Deity has accomplished, we should strengthen our faith in God. The people in the world need a strong faith in God now, and in the future, as never before. The world is at present trying to solve a problem ; the bringing of a permanent peace to mankind. If people lose their faith in God the problem will not be how to avert war but how to save themselves from destruction. The world is in a state of strife and unrest today. There are poor helpless babies, dying of starvation; there are mothers who have suffered until their reason has fled ; there are fathers shattered in mind and body, caring for nothing but death. Great, very great is their need for a strong faith in God. In spite of all the misery, sorrowing, and suffering the war has caused, people can yet find peace if only they hold firm and fast to their belief in their Heavenly Father. America has not felt the war as keenly as other nations, but still her need for a strong faith in God is just as great. It has been her privilege to bring Democracy to the world, through the hands of her leader, President Wilson. But his great plan will not succeed if he loses his faith in God. He needs a strong faith to carry him safely to victory. In the United States today the labor question is looming seriously before our minds. It cannot be settled unless we call on God for help. We, as Mormons, perhaps, need a strong faith in God more than we, as Americans. While it is Americas privilege to bring Democracy to the world it is our privilege to free from care and worry ; |
