high and high school students who gathered for a gang fight itt a Sandy park this week came well prepared to inflict pain The boys brought aluminum baseball bats a homemade hatchet a samurai sword brass knuckles and a pipe wrench to the Wednesday fight But police who were tipped off to the gathering stopped it before it' started Combatants were reportedly going to gather again Thursday to finish the fight at another park but that battle never materialized said Sandy Officer Gwen Moore Seven junior high-ag- e students were arrested during the Wednesday incident and were to be referred to juvenile court on charges of assault None of those involved were gang members in the typical sense police said alskinthough many were heads and two Salt Lake City boys Utah million legedly center Area's total yearly allocations Her predecessor Charles Johnson was paid about $66000 in 1990 Anne Lloyd Great Salt Lake communications director said her chapter is withholding its $57600 in annual dues to the national organization until an investigation of Mr Aramony is complete She said all Utah United Way chapters are autonomous from the United Way of America They receive training research consulting and technical advice from the national chapter for the dues but are in no way connected when allocating funds to city agencies or running campaigns Ms fund-raisin- g are known gang members Officer Moore said The beginnings of the gang fight started on a small scale Two Albion Middle School students who had been arguing for about a month finally met after school on Tuesday to fist fight Officer Moore said Apparently not satified with the outcpme the two boys agreed to meet again the next day at Flat Iron Park but this time each decided to bring some friends along she said A similar incident in December actually erupted into widespread fighting when about 100 boys gathered at a Sandy park to watch two boys fight Other fights broke out and soon nearly everyone was involved One participant was swinging a n heavy aluminum bar and a boys were later treated at hospitals for broken knuckles broken teeth and bruises high-school-a- half-doze- lion The Utah Department of Mental Health however appealed the disallowance It argued the state was not required to reimburse the federal government for Medicaid overpayments that are uncollectible due to the bankruptcy of the provider The Feb 26 reversal of the disallowance avoids what would have been a devastating loss to the State Medicaid Budget said Utah Attorney General Paul Van Dam In accordance with federal law the Utah Department of Health has already refunded most of the $600000 it received from the Timpanogos bankruptcy plan of Old Social Hall Rising Again Walls of Salt Lake City's old Social Hall began returning
