Show TKIJTHOXE TOLL SERVICE 18 TO BK IMPROVED J. Rex Miller, manager of the Eastern East-ern Utah Telephone company, operating oper-ating the toll line through Emery county from Price, was in town the middle of the week looking into the condition of the line and service In this end of the county. Incidentally, he announces that the line from Cas-tladalo Cas-tladalo south will be operated from Oastledalo in the future, the line being cut here and the Price exchange only looking after the toll line connections north of here. This will be a decided improvement for patrons in the south end of the county, as the line out of Huntington Is bothered considerable by the high tension wires in Huntington, Hunt-ington, making conversation difficult at times. John Uott, manager of the local exchange, ex-change, will have charge of the lines from Castledale south. That the Eastern Utah is earnestly solicitous for the welfare of its patrons pat-rons In Emery county is plainly shown by the interest the company is showing. show-ing. The recent reduction in toll rates to a minimum of 15c within a radius of 15 miles from the old charge of 25c Is another of the many acts of appreciation, and Mr. Miller reports that a considerable Increase in business busi-ness at the reduced rate has been the result though the people are not yet using the line to their own advantage as they should. The old habit of hooking up old Doll, supplanted by cranking up old Lizzie, and driving to a neighborng town to accomplsh the business that could be done so much more conveniently and cheaper over the phone.'ls still clung to by many of our people, though more and more of them are' comming to use the wire, which is equally satisfactory and takes less Urn. There is some talk of a telephone system being organized in Huntington and if this rumor developes into fact, the value of the county system to the people of the county will be much emphasized. em-phasized. Huntington, though the largest town in the county, is the only one of the larger towns that does not have a local exchange- service, and the organization of a local system there would be in line with the other very progressive moves of the townspeople of that place. Here's hoping the move Is soon underway! |
