One of Brazil's most Important railroads rail-roads is being equipped with oilburu-ing oilburu-ing locomotives and expects eventually to dispense with coal. The government of Uruguay has effected ef-fected an important saving by substituting substi-tuting petroleum for coal in its Montevideo Mon-tevideo electric powerhouse. Because of the shortage of coal the government govern-ment is aiming at further economy by converting two river steamboats and f)0 locomotives on one of the government gov-ernment railways into petroleum burn--ers.
