Show THREE HIGH SCHOOLS WILL BE MAINTAINED Tuesday's meeting of the county-board county-board of education was attended by all members the first time for a couple of months A. D. Lewis, the Green River member, having arrived home from. an extended visit in Texas. Accordingly, Ac-cordingly, some matters which have been hanging fire for some time have finally been decided upon. The high schools at Green River, Huntington, and Ferron will be continued con-tinued the coming school year, but only upon each student paying a tuition tui-tion charge of $20 for the year. Last year's charge was $5 per student and the extra amount, with the state ap-appropriation ap-appropriation on a basis of 150 students stud-ents in the county, will defray about half of the cost of running the high schools. It is possible, however, that a high school will not be operated at Ferron, the matter depending upon the attitude of the people there. Only a comparatively small part of the teaching force for the grade schools have signed up as yet for the coming winter, contracts having been signed by a bare twenty-odd teachers, but it is thought that the entire teaching teach-ing force will be lined tip in the near future. The matter of hiring janitors and enumerators will be taken up at next 1 month's meeting, July 2. The board ! members for the several districts have these matters under their direction and are to i. resent names for the positions posi-tions at this meeting. |
